Given that the iPhone 13 series of smartphones are yet to be launched, it is far too early to talk about its successor, the iPhone 14. However, that hasn’t stopped the rumour mill from churning out speculations about distant iPhones. Renowned industry analyst Ming-Chi Kuo has prophesised that the 6.7-inch iPhone 14 model could be the cheapest large iPhone yet. The analyst states that there will be four iPhone 14 models. The two low-end models will have screen sizes of 6.1-inches and 6.7-inches, as will their better-specced siblings. It seems that the low-end 6.7-inch iPhone 14 will be the ‘cheapest’ 6.7-inch iPhone ever and will cost around USD 900 (approx Rs 66,750) or lower. Here’s what he had to say to 9to5mac:
We reiterate our previous key specifications forecast for 2H22 iPhone models, namely that Apple will launch two high-end iPhones (6.1-inch and 6.7-inch) and two low-end iPhones (6.1-inch and 6.7-inch) in 2H22. We believe the growth drivers for the new 2H22 iPhones will come from 1) the potential for under-display fingerprint support (using Apple’s own technology), 2) the lowest price ever for a large (6.7-inch) iPhone (we expect it to be under USD 900), and 3) a wide camera upgrade to 48MP for high-end models.
Kuo also talks about some of the iPhone 14 specifications. The high-end models will likely pack a 48MP ultra-wide-angle lens, which is a first for any Apple device. Then again, Apple has never been about the raw megapixel count, choosing to focus on better software and image sensing algorithms instead. Other expected iPhone 14 features could include an under-display fingerprint sensor, an A16 Bionic chipset manufactured on TSMC’s 3nm process node, and hopefully, a high-refresh-rate screen.
