The Honor 50 series will apparently feature a new Snapdragon chipset that will offer 5G connectivity. There haven’t been a lot of rumours or leaks regarding the Honor 50 smartphones. This would be the first flagship series from Honor after its split from Huawei. The series is expected to consist of the Honor 50, the 50 Pro, and the 50 Pro+ variants. Now, a new leak reports that the base variant, Honor 50, will come with the unreleased Snapdragon 775G chipset.
Honor 50 specifications
The leak comes from well-known Weibo user @DCS, who states that Qualcomm is developing the Snapdragon SM7325 aka Snapdragon 775G. The chipset will come with a 5G modem and is a slightly less powerful variant of the Snapdragon 780G. The Honor 50 series is expected to be announced in the first half of this year and will consist of three variants. The Honor 50 would be a mid-range model with the Snapdragon 775G chipset, whereas the top-of-the-line 50 Pro+ variant will use the Snapdragon 888 SoC.
Some rumours also suggest that Honor may launch these phones in early June. The devices recently received 3C certification and revealed details about charging. According to the listing, the phones could support fast chargers that offer up to 100W charging. Other leaks have also suggested that the Honor 50 Pro+ will use a quad rear camera setup with a 50-megapixel primary sensor. The camera module will look similar to the one found on the Huawei P50 series. Of course, take all of this with a pinch of salt as usual. None of this has been officially confirmed by Honor yet.
As Honor is working with Qualcomm for its chipsets, it could mean that the Honor 50 series will feature Google services. The Chinese manufacturer hasn’t been doing very well since it separated from Huawei. Hopefully, the new line-up of devices should bring Honor back in the smartphone game. The company is also expected to launch the Honor Play 5 smartphone soon.
