Battlegrounds Mobile India confirmed to feature PUBG Mobile’s Erangel map

Highlights
  • Battlegrounds Mobile India will feature the Erangel map.
  • A teaser image shows a picture that mentions “Erangle” and features the familiar water tank.
  • Battlegrounds Mobile India launch is expected in mid-June.

Battlegrounds Mobile India release date is rumoured to be June 10th or June 18th. Ahead of the game’s launch, pre-registration has been opened on Google Play Store for Android. Krafton has been slowly teasing a few details about the upcoming battle royale game. The company has tried to leave out any mention of PUBG Mobile, but its ties to the global game are still very evident. For example, PUBG Mobile can be seen in the Battlegrounds Mobile India Play Store URL. Earlier this month, the company also teased a PUBG Mobile-like Sanhok map. Now, a new teaser image confirmed that Battlegrounds Mobile India will get the Erangel map, only Krafton is calling it “Erangle” for some reason.

In the teaser image above, you can see photos of what looks to be images from Battlegrounds Mobile India. The clearly-visible photo shows the name “Erangle” and the water tank that PUBG Mobile players will be familiar with. Now, this slight change in name from Erangel to Erangle isn’t fooling anyone, but it could be Krafton’s rather strange way of avoiding similarities with PUBG Mobile. Or perhaps all maps in Battlegrounds Mobile India will be the same as the maps in PUBG Mobile. Whether this will fly under the radar of the Indian government is something that we will have to wait and see.

Battlegrounds Mobile India ban on the way?

There are reports about a possible Battlegrounds Mobile India ban after former Union Minister and current Arunachal Pradesh MLA Ninong Ering wrote to Prime Miniter Narendra Modi to request a ban on the upcoming game. He states in his letter that most of Krafton’s India employees are from Tencent and that Battlegrounds Mobile India has the same “threat to the security of India and privacy” concerns as PUBG Mobile. It will be interesting to see whether the letter gets the government’s attention and whether Battlegrounds Mobile India sees the same fate as PUBG Mobile.
