New OnePlus flagships, namely the OnePlus 9 and OnePlus 9 Pro, have officially been launched in India. The handsets are the most powerful offerings from OnePlus yet. Key OnePlus 9 series specifications include Snapdragon 888 SoC, 120Hz dynamic refresh rate display, 65W wired fast charging solution, 50W fast wireless charging support, and Hasselblad cameras. In addition to being the most powerful, the smartphones are also the most expensive OnePlus flagships yet. The OnePlus 9 series prices in India start from Rs 49,999. That’s around 16 percent more than the last year’s OnePlus 8T (review) and about 127 percent more than the original OnePlus One (review).
Here’s a quick look at how the prices of OnePlus flagships, from OnePlus One to OnePlus 9 Pro, have changed over the years:

As you can see, the prices of OnePlus’ flagship phones have been increasing over the years. While the company has managed to justify the increase in price tag with some meaningful upgrades with every generation, its devices can no longer be called ‘flagship killers’. That’s because their prices are now on par with flagships from Apple and Samsung. The latest OnePlus 9 Pro has a starting price of Rs 64,999, which is within the touching distance of the Samsung Galaxy S21 (review) and iPhone 12 mini (review).
Whether the OnePlus 9 and OnePlus 9 Pro justify their wallet-breaking price is something only time will tell. For now, we’re leaving you with the specifications of the OnePlus 9 and the OnePlus 9 Pro.
OnePlus 9 and OnePlus 9 Pro specifications
Both OnePlus mobile phones run Android 11-based OxygenOS 11 out of the box and rock Snapdragon 888 SoC under the hood. The handsets are also 5G capable and sport 120Hz refresh rate punch-hole displays. While the OnePlus 9 sports a 6.55-inch FHD+ AMOLED display, the 9 Pro ships with a 6.67-inch QHD+ AMOLED display. The latter is also IP68 water and dust resistance certified, supports 50W fast wireless charging, and packs quad rear cameras comprising 48MP + 50MP + 8MP + 2MP sensors. The vanilla OnePlus 9, on the other hand, features triple rear cameras with a 48MP primary sensor, 50MP ultra-wide sensor, and 2MP monochrome sensor.
At the front, both phones house a 16MP snapper in the punch-hole setup for selfies and video calling. The OnePlus 9 and OnePlus 9 Pro both are driven by a 4,500mAh battery with a 65W fast charging solution. Only the Pro model supports 50W wireless fast charging.
