After a lot of back and forth, Sony finally revealed the PS5 India launch date last week. PS5 pre-orders in India will begin on January 12th and the console will go on sale on February 2nd. However, those looking to get their hands on the cheaper PS5 Digital Edition that costs Rs 39,990 may have to wait a bit longer. A tweet by an account that keeps real-time track of all PS5-related information in India (via IGN India) claims that the PS5 Digital Edition launch has been delayed. Therefore, only the costlier PS5 (Rs 49,990) Blu-ray variant will be available for purchase.

Other PS5 peripherals that will not be available in India during launch will be the Dual Sense charging station, HD camera, and PS headset. At the very least, one can get their hands on an extra DualSense 5 controller upon launch. The PS5 Digital Edition, along with said peripherals, will likely be launched in India at a later date, likely after Sony addresses the PS5 stock issues that have been plaguing markets worldwide.
Even those looking for a regular PS5 in India will likely have a hard time getting their hands on one, as a report by The Mako Reactor suggests that only 12,000-15,000 consoles will be available for sale across India on launch day. The worst part is, that number is the sum of the units that will be available via online and offline channels combined. There is a high likelihood of pre-orders on sites like Amazon and Flipkart vanishing with minutes, leaving games with no other alternative than to visit a local retailer.
