WhatsApp will let users join missed group calls, paste multiple items via a future update

Highlights
  • WhatsApp users on iOS will soon be able to copy and paste multiple items into chats.
  • A future version of WhatsApp will also allow Android and iOS users to join group calls after they have started.
  • Both features are currently in beta and will make their way to a stable version of WhatsApp in the near future.

WhatsApp has some exciting new features in store for Android and iOS users. Wabetainfo has come across some new platform-specific WhatsApp features that will make their way to eligible smartphones soon. iOS users will soon be able to select, copy, and paste multiple items; a feature that can come in handy while sharing multiple types of media at the same time. Additionally, a future update to WhatsApp will allow users on both platforms to join group calls that they have been invited to after the call has started. It is a minor, but significant QoL upgrade as an entire group call doesn’t need to be restarted to include additional participants who may have missed it earlier.

WhatsApp has also made it quite easy to copy and paste multiple items into a chat. To get started, open your smartphone’s Photos app, select the media that needs to be shared, tap on ‘Export’ and then ‘Copy’. You can then paste the contents into a WhatsApp chat of your liking. Only users who are running the beta version of WhatsApp for iOS can access the above feature. It is expected to make its way to the stable release soon, though it’s hard to say exactly when.

The latest WhatsApp beta also brings forth a host of improvements across both platforms. A bug that prevented users from searching status updates has been fixed. There are several feature-specific improvements across the board for voice, video, group calls, sharing URLs, backing up chat history, and contact management. However, one problem seems to have slipped through the cracks. Several users have reported that they are unable to preview YouTube links via WhatsApp. That bug is yet to be fixed, and will likely be addressed in a future update.
