It seems OnePlus Nord SE won’t be a new smartphone after all

Highlights
  • OnePlus Nord SE is tipped to a special edition of the existing OnePlus Nord
  • The phone is said to be designed in partnership with designer Joshua Vides
  • The OnePlus Nord SE may retain key specifications and features from the original Nord

After the launch of OnePlus Nord N10 and N100, there were reports of another mid-range phone by the brand being in the works, dubbed as the Nord SE. It was rumoured to bring a bigger capacity battery and faster-charging speed compared to the existing Nord phones. However, it now turns out the OnePlus SE may not be a new device after all. According to PhoneArena and tipster Max Jambor, the OnePlus Nord SE is nothing but a special edition of the existing OnePlus Nord, made in partnership with designer Joshua Vides. It is said to retain some of the key specifications and features from the original Nord, but with a different design. The OnePlus Nord SE is tipped to arrive with custom wallpapers and a specially-designed rear panel.

The PhoneArena report says there may not be significant upgrades on the hardware side, which means the OnePlus Nord SE specifications could include an AMOLED 90Hz display, Snapdragon 765G SoC, and quad-camera setup just like the original model. While it’s not confirmed, rumours hint the OnePlus Nord SE launch could happen in March, so a possible launch alongside the OnePlus 9 series is on cards.

OnePlus Nord specifications

To recall, the OnePlus Nord sports a 6.44-inch FHD+ Fluid AMOLED display with 1,080 x 2,400 pixels resolution and 90Hz refresh rate. It is powered by the Qualcomm Snapdragon 765G SoC paired with up 12GB RAM and up to 256GB internal storage. The phone runs on Android 10 with OxygenOS 10 on top and has an in-display fingerprint sensor for security. A 4,115mAh battery with 30W fast-charging support fuels the phone.

The OnePlus Nord has a quad-camera setup at the back with a 48MP Sony IMX586 primary sensor, an 8MP ultra-wide-angle, a 5MP depth sensor, and a macro sensor for close-up shots. There is a 32MP primary selfie camera and an 8MP ultra-wide-angle lens with 105-degree field of view. Connectivity features include 4G LTE, dual-band Wi-Fi, Bluetooth 5.1, GPS, and USB Type-C port for charging.
