Last month saw an introduction of Nothing Phone (1) – the first smartphone from the brand, Nothing – with a unique design. While the brackets numbering scheme would mean the Nothing Phone (2) is next in the line, a new report suggests that is not the case. Folks at The Mobile Indian believe October of this year could witness a Nothing Phone (1)’s Lite variant debut in India.
Of course, no brand would launch just one handset, and more smartphones from the brand are expected, but not this early. When the publication reached out to Nothing, the brand denied plans to launch a Lite version of Phone (1). We have contacted Nothing for a response, but are yet to hear from them
Nothing Phone (1) Lite
The source says that the Lite unit speaks the same body language and configuration as the Phone (1) (review), and the only difference between them is the absence of Glyph interface and wireless charging on the Lite model. This would cut down the cost – justifying the “Lite” moniker – but the unique LEDs at the back are what make Nothing Phone (1) stand out, and removing it might not appeal as a worthy trade to potential buyers.
This souped-down version of Nothing Phone (1) may also house a slightly larger battery of 5,000mAh (up from the 4,500mAh of its elder sibling), and despite the support for 33W fast charging, the source claims that buyers will witness a 42W charger inside the box. Unlike the Phone (1), the Lite will ship in 6GB RAM with 128GB storage options priced at Rs 24,999. For reference, Phone (1)’s base variant – 8GB RAM with 128GB storage – retails at Rs 32,999.
Apart from the RAM, battery, and surprising 42W charger’s presence inside the box, the Lite unit packs Snapdragon 778G+ chip, 6.55-inch 120Hz AMOLED panel, dual 50MP rear cameras, and a 16MP selfie shooter.
