Not too long ago, we learned that POCO was planning on launching several AIoT products in the market in 2022. The brand is set to unveil its POCO Pop Buds TWS (or audio products in general) and a smartwatch next year. Alongside these products, it seems like POCO might soon be bringing its first ever laptop in the market! A Redmi G series laptop battery has been certified by India’s Bureau of Indian Standards (BIS); the listing was first spotted by the ever-reliable Mukul Sharma and has been exclusively shared with 91mobiles. Could the listing be hinting at an imminent launch of a POCO laptop? Well, only time will tell. For now, take a look at the BIS listing.
POCO laptop could possibly be in the works
As seen in the images above, the Redmi G series laptop battery (build number G16B01W) has recently been listed on the BIS, albeit under the POCO branding. The battery’s technical specifications are already known — it is a 3,620mAh cell (15.2V, 55.02Wh). This is a replacement battery meant for Redmi G and Redmi G Gaming laptops. So, could POCO be planning on launching a gaming laptop? Well, it is possible, but certainly not confirmed as of now.
POCO laptop: What should you expect?
Well, if this really happens and if we really see POCO launch its laptops, what specifications could we expect? It would depend on whether POCO would rebrand the Redmi G series laptops (in this case, the Redmi G 2021) or whether POCO would just use this battery for an entirely new product.
If the former is the case, we can expect a 16.1-inch 144Hz refresh rate display, 11th-gen Intel Core i5/Ryzen 7 5800 processors, 16GB RAM and 512GB storage, and, of course, the 55Wh battery that we have spotted. To learn more about the specifications and features of the Redmi G 2021, you can head to our previous coverage for the same.

Readers must be made aware that this is not the first time a Xiaomi laptop battery has been listed under the POCO branding, but this is the first time it has happened ever since POCO made the announcement for entering into the AIoT ecosystem. Therefore, it is quite possible that we get to see a POCO branded laptop next year. That said, till the time things become officially clear (and/or we receive some more leaks surrounding the same), it’s better that we take things with a slight grain of salt. We will keep you posted if and when we receive any more intel on the same.
