Here we go again: Samsung Galaxy S21 FE reportedly isn’t cancelled, here’s when it will launch

Highlights
  • Samsung Galaxy S21 FE isn’t cancelled but the launch is being delayed.
  • The phone is now said to be introduced in January with a soft launch and limited region availability.
  • Samsung Galaxy S21 FE specs could include Snapdragon 888, 4500mAh battery and a 120Hz AMOLED display.

Samsung Galaxy S21 FE is an enigma as it remains difficult to understand what’s happening with the phone. Initial reports suggested the launch is delayed globally but then the support page and a Google AR Console listing were up, which made it look like the unveiling is around the corner. But then again, a most recent rumour claimed the company has cancelled the phone probably due to the chip shortage and the support page was taken down. Now, a fresh rumour that surfaced online claims the Samsung Galaxy S21 FE isn’t cancelled after all but the wait for it to hit stores will be longer than one would hope.

It’s quite evident the handset has fallen prey to the global chip shortage that has impacted nearly every industry. According to a new report from SamMobile, Samsung has reportedly opted to move the Galaxy S21 FE launch to January instead of cancelling the release altogether. It’s also said that there won’t be any event (virtual or physical), instead, a press release will be issued announcing the pricing and region availability. Samsung has moved the S-series flagship launch cycle from February-end to January to take on the latest iPhones.

Now, if the Galaxy S21 FE is indeed moved to January, it would create a conflict with the potential Galaxy S22 announcement. SamMobile speculates the Samsung Galaxy S22 family will probably be pushed to a pre-Mobile World Congress event in February. Either way, nothing can be said for certain at moment.

Samsung Galaxy S21 FE specifications (rumoured)

Samsung Galaxy S21 FE specifications could include a 6.4-inch FHD+ AMOLED display with a 120Hz refresh rate, Corning Gorilla Glass layer and a punch-hole cutout. The phone is said to come with triple cameras on the back but the sensor details are a mystery at the moment. Connectivity features include 5G, 4G LTE, dual-band Wi-Fi, Bluetooth 5.1, GPS, and USB Type-C for charging. The phone may have an in-display fingerprint sensor for security and pack a 4,500mAh battery with up to 45W fast charging support. The phone is said to be powered by the Qualcomm Snapdragon 888+ SoC coupled Adreno 660 GPU, with up to 12GB RAM and 256GB storage. The phone is said to be available in Red, Orange, White, Lavender, Mint, and Navy options.
