- Moto Tab 8 will be a rebranded version of Lenovo Tab M8 FHD
- It will be marketed as a tablet for entertainment and education
- The tablet will launch in India as part of the Flipkart’s Big Billion Day sale in October
Yesterday, 91mobiles exclusively reported that Motorola is launching the Moto Tab 8 tablet in India in the Flipkart Big Billion Day Sale next month. And while we had details about the launch plans, official name, and pricing, we didn’t know what the product will be like. Now, thanks to tipster Yogesh Brar, we can confirm that Motorola tablet is launching under the name Moto Tab 8 in India in October. The upcoming Moto Tab 8 will be a rebranded Lenovo Tab M8 FHD, which is already available in the Indian market. It will be marketed as a device for entertainment and education, an obvious play on the requirements of the youth during the pandemic.
Brar mentioned the hardware details and features of the Moto Tab 8 will be the same as those on the Lenovo Tab M8 FHD. This arrangement, obviously, makes sense as Lenovo is Motorola’s parent company, and borrowing its devices and offer them as rebranded products help Motorola save on costs, and deliver a quality product to the consumers. Of course, the key differentiator between the two tablets will be the stock Android UI that the Moto Tab 8 will offer.
This tablet will mark Motorola’s comeback in the segment after a long while; to recall, the company offered the Moto Tab a few years ago, but failed to light up the market.
Moto Tab 8 specifications
Considering it will be a rebranded Lenovo Tab M8 FHD, the Moto Tab 8 will sport an 8-inch screen with support for FHD (1,200 x 1,920 pixels) resolution. Under the hood, Moto Tab 8 will be powered by the octa-core MediaTek Helio P22T chipset, with up to 4GB RAM at its disposal. Storage options will be 32GB and 64GB, with buyers also getting the choice between Wi-Fi and cellular variants.
Moto Tab 8 will feature a 13MP camera at the back and a 5MP shooter on the front. And, finally, Moto Tab 8 will come with a 5,000 battery, with support for USB Type-C charging. Metallic body, Dolby Audio support, safety features for kids will also be part of the package. It should be mentioned that when Lenovo Tab M8 FHD launched in 2019, it came with Android 9 on board. However, considering it’s 2021, we can expect Android 11.
In our report from yesterday, we had mentioned that Moto Tab 8 price in India will be under Rs 20,000, but looking at the hardware, we can expect the tablet to be on the lower side of the price spectrum. For context, the Lenovo Tab M8 FHD in India costs Rs 13,999 on Flipkart.
