Alongside Mi MIX 4, Xiaomi has also unveiled the Mi Pad 5 and Mi Pad 5 Pro tablets on the same stage on Tuesday. Xiaomi has returned to the tablet market after three long years as its predecessor, the Mi Pad 4, was unveiled back in June 2018. The latest Xiaomi tablets will look to take on Apple iPads and Samsung Galaxy Tabs in the segment. However, the company hasn’t mentioned anything about their global availability at the moment. The tablets sport an 11-inch WQXA LCD screen with a 120Hz refresh rate and Dolby Vision. The standard variant ships with Snapdragon 860, while the Pro model is powered by the Snapdragon 870 SoC. Xiaomi has also unveiled keyboard protective case and stylus accessories for the tablet.
Mi Pad 5 and Mi Pad 5 Pro prices
- The Xiaomi Mi Pad 5 price is RMB 1,999 (Rs 23,000) for the 6GB + 128GB Wi-Fi version
- The Mi Pad 5 6GB + 256GB Wi-Fi version costs RMB 2,299 (Rs 26,400)
- The Xiaomi Mi Pad 5 Pro starts at RMB 2,499 (Rs 28,700) for the 6GB + 128GB Wi-Fi only option.
- The Mi Pad 5 Pro 6GB + 256GB Wi-Fi model costs RMB 2,799 (Rs 32,200)
- The Mi Pad 5 Pro top-end 8GB + 256GB version with 5G is priced at RMB 3,499 (Rs 40,200)
The Xiaomi Mi Pad 5 comes in Black, White and Green colours. While the Pro model will be available in Black and White colours. Both Mi Pad 5 and Mi Pad 5 Pro will be available for purchase in China from August 16th. The company has also unveiled the keyboard case and stylus pen that are priced at RMB 399 (around Rs 4,600) and RMB 349 (approx Rs 4,000).
Mi Pad 5 specifications
The Mi Pad 5 features an 11-inch WQXGA display with a 16:10 aspect ratio, 120Hz refresh rate, 240Hz sampling rate, Dolby Vision, HDR10, TrueTone True colour display, TUV Rheinland low blue light hardware scheme certification.
Under the hood, the Mi Pad 5 is powered by the Qualcomm Snapdragon 860 processor with Adreno 640 GPU. It is offered with 6GB RAM paired with either 128GB or 256GB storage. The tablet runs Android 11 with MIUI 12.5 custom skin out of the box and has a single 13MP snapper on the back that can record 4K videos. There is an 8MP snapper on the front for selfies and video chats and has an 8720mAh battery with 33W fast-charging support.
Design-wise, the Mi Pad 5 measures 254.69x 166.25mmx6.85mm and weighs 511 grams. It is equipped with Dolby Atmos, quad-speakers and no 3.5mm audio jack. Connectivity features include dual-band Wi-Fi, Bluetooth 5.0, GPS and USB Type-C.

Mi Pad 5 Pro specifications
The Mi Pad 5 Pro also has the same 11-inch display with a WQXGA display with a similar 120Hz refresh rate, 240Hz touch sampling rate, Dolby Vision, HDR10, TUV Rheinland low blue light hardware scheme certification and TrueTone True colour display.
However, the Mi Pad 5 Pro is slightly more powerful as it ships with the Qualcomm Snapdragon 870 SoC that is paired with the Adreno 650 GPU, 6GB LPDDR5 RAM and 256GB UFS 3.1 storage. The 5G model will come with just 8GB LPDDR5 RAM and 256GB UFS 3.1 storage. It runs on Android 11-based MIUI 12.5 skin and connectivity features include 5G (optional), dual-band Wi-Fi, Bluetooth 5.2, GPS and USB Type-C.
The Xiaomi Mi Pad 5 Pro Wi-Fi only variant comes with a 13MP primary camera and a 5MP depth sensor for portrait shots. However, the 5G model will come with a 50MP primary sensor and a 5MP depth sensor. It has an 8MP selfie snapper on the front and an 8,600mAh battery with 67W fast charging support that is claimed to charge from 0 to 100 percent in 67 minutes. It measures 254.69x 166.25×6.86mm and weighs 515 grams (518 grams on the 5G model). The tablet is equipped with Dolby Atmos and 8 Speakers.
The keyboard protective case has 63 keys and independent ESC and task keys that have travel of 1.2mm. The stylus has a 4,096 pressure sensitivity level and 240Hz touch sampling rate. It weighs just 12.2 grams and has a battery life of more than eight hours and supports fast charging in just 18 minutes.
