OnePlus 9T was widely believed to arrive in the second half of 2021 as an improvement to the OnePlus 9. Last month, key OnePlus 9T specifications were leaked and we were also told that there won’t be a OnePlus 9T Pro model. Now, however, it seems OnePlus will not be launching any T series model in 2021. Reliable tipster Max Jambor tweeted that there is no OnePlus 9T. In a reply, the tipster suggested one should wait for the OnePlus 10 instead. With the company focusing its time and energy on the Nord series, it’s not surprising that we may start seeing less and less of the T series.
We don’t know yet if OnePlus plans to discontinue the T lineup completely. What we do know is that, for now, there will not be a OnePlus 9T phone. Last month, it was rumoured that the OnePlus 9T will use Samsung’s 120Hz LTPO E4 flexible screen. The phone was said to come with an FHD+ display and variable refresh rate.
Earlier this month, it was reported that the OnePlus 9T would launch sometime in Q3 2021 i.e before the end of September. The phone was also speculated to come with Hasselblad cameras and run on the new OxygenOS version that shares its codebase with ColorOS. All of this seems to have been put on hold or cancelled. We should now look forward to the OnePlus 10, though its specifications and design are under wraps for now.
OnePlus has been launching several new Nord phones this year. After the Nord CE 5G, the company announced the OnePlus Nord 2 in India only recently. OnePlus’ strategy seems to be offering just one series that includes flagship models for the year and keeping the Nord line for affordable to mid-range offerings. The OnePlus T series seems to have no place now in the company’s portfolio and it could meet a gradual end. To recall, the company only launched the OnePlus 8T last year without a Pro model.
