Samsung Galaxy F42 5G launch could be around the corner, shows up on Wi-Fi Alliance website

Highlights
  • The Samsung Galaxy F42 5G has just shown up on the Wi-Fi Alliance website.
  • The listing reveals support Wi-Fi 802.11 b/g/n/ac support and Android 11.
  • Samsung Galaxy F42 5G is very likely a rebadged Galaxy M42 5G.

Samsung has another low-cost 5G phone in store for us. The Samsung Galaxy F42 5G just popped up on the Wi-Fi Alliance website (via MySmartPrice), indicating that it is in the final stages of development and should launch soon. Its model number is SM-E426B/DS (could change depending on the variant). The listing doesn’t tell us much about any of the Samsung Galaxy F42 5G specifications, other than the fact that it will support Wi-Fi 802.11 b/g/n/ac and Android 11 out of the box. Then again, Wi-Fi Alliance listings seldom do. In all likelihood, the Samsung Galaxy F42 5G is a rebranded Galaxy M42 5G.

Over the past few release cycles, Samsung has had an annoying habit of repurposing Galaxy M-series smartphones as Galaxy F series and vice versa. It’s hard to tell just what purpose this serves, but Samsung seems to be fine with it. One can only hope that the Samsung Galaxy F42 5G brings some improvements over its M-series siblings. Our in-depth Galaxy F42 5G review found that Samsung had a lot of scope for improvement, and it would be nice to see some of those changes.

If the Galaxy F42 5G is indeed a rebadged Galaxy M42 5G, we can expect it to run a Snapdragon 750G chipset coupled with 8GB of RAM and 128GB of storage. We hope Samsung upgrades the screen resolution to FHD+ as an HD+ screen on a Rs 20,000+ smartphone is unacceptable. Other Galaxy F42 5G specs could include 48MP quad cameras and a 5,000mAh battery.
