MIUI 13, Xiaomi’s next Android-based system UI for its smartphones, is expected to arrive in June this year. There have been several rumours regarding the new and updated user interface. The most recent rumour suggests that the MIUI 13 launch will be announced on June 25th. According to the report, some Xiaomi phones from 2019, as well as models launched earlier, will not be getting the update. The Chinese manufacturer is currently in the midst of seeding MIUI 12.5 to compatible devices.
MIUI 13 launch date
There hasn’t been any official word from Xiaomi regarding MIUI 13 update, so we recommend that you take this report with a pinch of salt. The report comes via MyDrivers, which cites Chinese media reports claiming that the MIUI 13 launch plans will be released on June 25th. It also says MIUI 13 is well under development and will be released in the second half of 2021. It’s also been claimed that some Xiaomi phones will not be receiving the MIUI 13 update.
MIUI 13 not coming to these Xiaomi phones
As per the report, older 2019 models from Xiaomi, such as the Mi 9, Redmi Note 8, and the Redmi 8 series, won’t be eligible for the update. Even premium phones such as the Mi MIX 3 will be left out of the update cycle. Currently, Xiaomi is pushing MIUI 12.5, which itself is considered to be a big update, to a bunch of phones. The Mi 9 SE, Mi MIX 2S, Mi 8 series are going to be updated to MIUI 12.5.
MIUI 13 features aren’t known as of yet as there haven’t been any leaks regarding the update. However, we can expect improvements to the interface, lock screen, animations, privacy, security, and more. If Xiaomi is indeed going to announce the next update in June, then more details should be available soon.
