Apple’s WWDC 2021 conference is set for June 7th, where the Cupertino giant is expected to unveil iOS 15, iPadOS 15, macOS, tvOS, watchOS, among other announcements. Now, according to a report from Mark Gurman of Bloomberg citing sources familiar with the matter, Apple is working on major improvements for the iPad home screen as a part of the next major OS. This will include adding widgets to the iPad’s home screen, similar to how iOS 14 enabled widgets on the iPhone home screen. The report claims this will be the biggest change to the iPad home screen ever. As for iPhones, iOS 15 will bring an updated lock screen UI.
Considering the latest iPad Pro ships with an Apple M1 chipset that has a lot of processing prowess, it should help with efficient app multitasking and a new home screen should enable users to make the most out of the powerful chipsets. iOS 15 is said to bring a new notifications feature that will allow users to customise alert preferences depending on the current activity, such as driving, sleeping, working, and others. a smarter automatic reply for notification is also in the works. The report suggests that iOS 15 will include new alerts to inform users when apps are secretly collecting data about them.
Additionally, Apple is said to be working on new iMessage features that would better compete with WhatsApp. However, the Bloomberg report says this is still in early development and may not find its way to the iOS 15. We should learn more about iOS 15 and other operating systems that the company would unveil at the WWDC conference going forward so stick around.
