ASUS has already announced that the brand will launch the ZenFone 8 series smartphone on May 12th at 07:00 PM CEST (10:30 PM IST). The upcoming lineup of smartphones will succeed the ZenFone 7 series and it is expected to have three devices, the ZenFone 8, ZenFone 8 Pro, and the ZenFone 8 Mini. Recently, the company also posted a teaser video, which suggested that the ZenFone 8 series smartphones might come with a punch-hole display rather than a flip camera mechanism. On Tuesday, ASUS posted another teaser video that hints the ZenFone 8 series smartphones will have a display with a higher refresh rate compared to that of the ZenFone 7 series devices.

In the teaser posted by ASUS on Twitter, the company flaunts the smoothness of the display of the ZenFone 8 series smartphones. While ASUS hasn’t mentioned the refresh rate, the video shows a silhouette of a smartphone (probably one of the ZenFone 8 series devices) and it has “Smoothness” doodled on its display with 120 ‘o’ letters. It strongly suggests that the ASUS ZenFone 8 series will have a 120Hz refresh rate display. It is significantly higher than the 90Hz refresh rate display that the ZenFone 7 and the ZenFone 7 Pro offer. That being said, it is no surprise that the ZenFone 8 series might have a 120Hz refresh rate display as this has become the bare minimum for flagship smartphones nowadays.

As for the other key specifications, ASUS ZenFone 8/ ZenFone 8 Pro was recently spotted on Geekbench, which revealed that the smartphone will have the Qualcomm Snapdragon 888 processor, 8GB of RAM, and the Android 11 operating system. A report from XDA-Developers suggests that the ZenFone 8 series smartphones will have a 64MP IMX686 sensor and a Sony IMX663 module. It also points that the ZenFone 8 Mini, which will be the most compact smartphone in the lineup, will have a 5.9-inch screen. Moreover, the TUV certification shows that ZenFone 8 Mini will have 30W charging. Rumor has it that Asus might launch ZenFone 8 Flip, which will be the only smartphone in the lineup to have a flip camera mechanism.
