It seems Motorola may soon launch the global variant of the Motorola Edge S mid-range flagship smartphone. A new phone called the Motorola G100, which carries the codename Nio, has appeared on Geekbench. According to a report from MySmartPrice, the upcoming phone is most likely the global name for the Motorola Edge S. Last month, Motorola unveiled the Edge S smartphone in China with specifications such as Snapdragon 870 chipset, 90Hz display, and quad-rear camera setup. The Geekbench listing reveals some of the Motorola G100 specifications, which reiterate that it’s a variant of the Edge S.
Motorola G100 specifications
The Geekbench listing reveals that the Motorola G100 specifications will include the Snapdragon 870 chipset and 8GB of RAM, along with Android 11 operating system. These specifications relate well to the Motorola Edge S device, as it too is available with the same processor and up to 8GB RAM in China. The Geekbench listing shows the phone scored 957 points in the single-core test and 2815 points in the multi-core test. Prolific tipster Evan Blass has also said that the Motorola Edge S will be launched globally as the G100.Considering the Motorola G100 is the global variant of the Edge S, it should share most of its specifications. This means Motorola G100 specifications would include a 6.7-inch 90Hz display with FHD+ resolution and HDR10 support. It will also offer 5G support and get a quad-rear camera setup with a primary 64-megapixel sensor. The phone would also house a 5,000mAh battery with support for 20W fast charging, a headphone jack, and IP52 splash-resistance rating.
In China, the Motorola Edge S price for the base variant with 6GB RAM and 128GB storage is CNY 1,999, which is approximately Rs 22,500. We can expect the price of the Moto G100 to be around the same if and when it launches in India. Stay tuned to 91mobiles to find out more about this device.
