[Exclusive] Vivo Y20G price in India, specifications tipped ahead of launch

Highlights
  • Vivo Y20G is said to be powered by the MediaTek Helio G80 chipset
  • The new Vivo handset features the same design as the original Vivo Y20
  • Vivo Y20G price in India will start from Rs 12,990

Vivo Y20G, which seems to be a new variant of the Vivo Y20 from last year, has already started shipping from January 18th, i.e. Monday, an industry source has told 91mobiles. Notably, this handset has a different processor from the Vivo Y20 (2021), which was launched in Malaysia late last month. While the standard Vivo Y20 and the Y20 (2021) are powered by Snapdragon 460 and Helio P35 chipsets, respectively, the Vivo Y20G is said to be fuelled by MediaTek Helio G80 SoC. Notably, the design of the new smartphone is said to be the same as that of the standard Y20. We have also learned about the Vivo Y20G prices in India.

The new handset will be made available in two configurations, i.e. 4GB RAM + 64GB storage and 6GB RAM + 128GB storage. These variants will be made available for Rs 12,990 and Rs 14,990, respectively. While there is no confirmation regarding the launch date or availability yet, considering that the shipments have already started, we can expect the official announcement very soon.

Vivo Y20G specifications

Just like the standard model, Vivo Y20G will feature a 6.51-inch HD+ (1,600 x 720 pixels) Halo iView display with a waterdrop notch design. As mentioned earlier, the phone is powered by a MediaTek Helio G80 chipset. The Vivo Y20G will run Android 11-based Funtouch OS 11 out of the box. In the camera department, the Vivo Y20G is said to come with a triple-sensor array at the back, comprising a 13MP (f/1.8) primary shooter, a 2MP depth camera, and a 2MP Macro lens. For selfies and video calling, there is an 8MP camera on the front. On the security front, you are treated to a side-mounted fingerprint sensor.

The handset packs a 5,000mAh battery with 18W fast charging support. If you were hoping for the phone to support 5G, we’re sorry to share that the Vivo Y20G will come with 4G LTE support instead. While we expect 5G phones to become cheaper eventually, we will have to wait for some time before that happens. The rest of the connectivity options include Wi-Fi ac, Bluetooth 5.0, GPS/ GLONASS/ Beidou, micro-USB port, and a 3.5mm audio jack.
