After Galaxy S21 Ultra, Samsung confirms S Pen coming to more Galaxy devices

Highlights
  • S21 Ultra is Samsung’s first non-Note smartphone to support the S Pen
  • The S Pen will be sold as a separate accessory
  • Samsung plans to bring the S Pen experience to multiple categories in the future

Samsung just announced the Galaxy S21, Galaxy S21+, and Galaxy S21 Ultra, its latest range of flagship smartphones. The Galaxy S21 Ultra is the company’s first smartphone outside of the Note line-up to support the S Pen stylus. The S Pen will be sold as a separate accessory and the smartphone does not have a silo to store the S Pen internally. Customers will have to buy a separate case to which the S Pen will attach. Samsung has now also confirmed that it plans to expand the S pen experience across additional device categories in the future. There have been rumours about the next generation Galaxy Fold supporting the S Pen.

The Galaxy S21 Ultra’s S Pen will not have the same feature set as the one that ships with the Note line-up of smartphones. It does not feature Bluetooth control, nor does it support Air Actions. In fact, the S21 Ultra is compatible with any Wacom stylus, which means Any S Pen from past Note smartphones or Samsung tablets will also work with the smartphone. According to a SamMobile report, this is what Samsung had to say about S Pen support on future Galaxy phones:

We are committed to innovating new mobile experiences that flow seamlessly and continuously to make our consumers’ lives easier and better. We’ve made the bold decision to expand the S Pen experience to Galaxy S21 Ultra, and plan to expand the S Pen experience across additional device categories in the future.
