Redmi 9T unboxing video confirms that it’s an upgraded POCO M3

Highlights
  • The Redmi 9T has been unboxed before its launch
  • It is essentially a rebranded POCO M3 with an extra wide-angle lens
  • Key Redmi 9T specifications include Snapdragon 662 SoC, quad rear cameras, and 6,000mAh battery with 18W charging

This year, we’ve seen several Redmi handsets get launched as POCO-branded smartphones, but the upcoming Redmi 9T seems to be a reversal of that situation. YouTube content creator Mobile Tech Podcast managed to get his hands on the Redmi 9T ahead of its rumoured launch. Upon unboxing, Redmi 9T turned out to be little more than a POCO M3 with a fresh coat of paint. However, there is one key difference between the two. The Redmi 9T comes with four rear cameras instead of three, with the fourth lens being an 8MP ultra-wide-angle lens. It appears to be the same one used in the vanilla Redmi Note 9

Redmi 9T specifications

As mentioned earlier, the Redmi 9T is merely a rebadged POCO M3. It means that you get a 6.5-inch IPS LCD panel with a resolution of 1080 x 2340 pixels. There is a waterdrop-style notch on the screen that houses an 8MP selfie camera. Its rear camera array consists of four sensors, one of which has been mentioned earlier. Other sensors include the 48MP primary wide-angle lens, 2MP depth sensor, and 2MP macro lens. As expected, the phone’s housing has been modified to accommodate the fourth lens. Take a look at what the Redmi 9T has in store for us via the following video.

Other key Redmi 9T specifications include the Qualcomm Snapdragon 662 chipset, 4GB of RAM, 64GB/ 128GB of storage, a 6,000mAh battery that supports fast charging at 18W, Bluetooth 5.0, and an IR blaster. Given that the POCO M3 is yet to hit Asian shores, but even when it launches, it probably won’t launch in India because the Redmi 9 Power sold in India is already a rebranded POCO M3. Nonetheless, the upcoming smartphone has already made an appearance on Thailand’s NTBC website, indicating that the Redmi 9T launch isn’t too far off.
