In July, Xiaomi offshoot Redmi unveiled the Redmi 9 and Redmi 9A in Nepal. And today, the company has taken wraps off and added a new member to the lineup – Redmi 9C. The newly launched entry-level smartphone is a toned-down model of the Redmi 9, allowing the user to save a few bucks.

Similar to the Redmi 9A, the newly launched Xiaomi Redmi 9C sports a 6.53-inch display but with HD+ resolution (1600 x 720 pixels) and a waterdrop notch cutout, which gives it a 20:9 aspect ratio. The display is further protected by Corning Gorilla Glass.
Powered by MediaTek Helio G35 chipset with an octa-core CPU and PowerVR GE8320 graphics, the Redmi 9C is paired with up to 3GB LPDDR4X RAM and 64GB of eMMC 5.1 storage with an option to increase the storage by up to 512GB via a microSD card.
The Redmi 9C’s rear camera array consists of three camera sensors instead of four inside a square camera module that includes a primary 13MP camera with f/2.2 aperture, a 2MP macro sensor with f/2.4 lens, and a 2MP depth sensor with f/2.4 lens.
There’s a 5MP selfie camera with f/2.2 aperture on the front housed within the waterdrop notch cutout.
The Redmi 9C comes with a 5,000mAh battery that can only be charged at 10W via a micro USB port. The company claims that a full charge can offer up to 27 days of standby-battery time and 10 hours of gaming. It runs on the latest MIUI 12 based on Android 10.
Connectivity options include dual-SIM support, 4G LTE, Wi-Fi, and 3.5mm audio jack. For security, the Redmi 9C has a rear fingerprint sensor and AI face unlock support.

The smartphone will be in three color options: Sunrise Orange, Midnight Grey, and Twilight Blue across all Mi stores and the company’s online partners soon.
