Xiaomi Mi Smart Band 5 With Heart Rate Monitor Launched in Nepal

The newest member of the world’s most popular smart band family – Mi Smart Band 5 (also called Mi Band 5 in some markets), has arrived in Nepal. The Mi Band 5  is a major upgrade over its predecessor Mi Band 4. Xiaomi added “smart” to the band’s name, but it still did not add NFC to the global version. That remains exclusive to China.

Xiaomi is one of the wearable industry leaders, and it built that reputation on capable but affordable gadgets like the Mi Bands and Bluetooth headsets.

Mi Smart Band 5 Specifications and Features

The first major upgrade on Mi Band 5 is the display. Compared to the Mi Band 4, it boasts a larger 1.1-inch OLED display and a more convenient magnetic charger.

The screen can be customized with over 65 readily available watch faces that can provide up to three different information pieces from a wide range. Still, the more important feature is Photo Watch Face – Xiaomi finally gives its users the ability to customize the band’s looks and put a custom photo as a background.

The Mi Smart Band 5 tracks sleep more intelligently, records more sports, and brings PAI – Personal Activity Intelligence mode. There are also stress monitoring, a camera shutter, breathing exercises, and women can track their monthly biological processes.

The Band 4 brought 7 sports modes, but the Mi Smart Band 5 extended the list to 11 “professional modes,” as Xiaomi calls them.

Aside from the running and cycling modes, there is now Rowing Machine where the band counts the strokes, the drive time and suggests a time for recovery; also counts the performance during jumping rope or being on the elliptical.

The heart monitoring on Mi Band 5 has been improved and it can now detect abnormalities and notify you – just like Apple Watch. Furthermore, the new PPG sensor is 50% more accurate than its predecessor, but it lacks a SpO2 sensor.

The Mi Smart Band 5 can also recognize five of the main swimming styles automatically. The fitness band itself can be submerged in up to 50 meters of water.

When it comes to sleep tracking, the Xiaomi Mi Smart Band 5 can now extract data related to your REM sleep.

Xiaomi guarantees 14 days of battery life. The charger has been improved and hooks up to the back of the Mi Band 5 via magnets.
