Apple One: Everything You Need To Know About Apple’s New Subscription Bundle

The Cupertino-based multinational technology company – Apple Inc. has announced a Google One-like bundle called Apple One during a Time Flies Event held on 15 September 2020. While Google’s monthly subscription plan includes cloud storage, backups, and promotions, Apple One bundles Apple’s premium subscription services, like Apple Music, Apple TV+, Apple Arcade, iCloud, Apple News+, and Apple Fitness+.

Apple One allows you to subscribe to multiple Apple premium services for a single monthly fee, saving you money compared to purchasing each service individually.

Apple’s senior vice president of Internet Software and Services, Eddy Cue said:

“Apple One makes enjoying Apple subscription services easier than ever, including Apple Music, Apple TV+, Apple Arcade, iCloud, and more. With Apple One, you can access the best of Apple entertainment across all your favorite devices with one simple subscription.”

Here’s everything you need to know about Apple One, including price, different plans and services, free trials, and if subscribing will save you any money.

What is Apple One?

Apple One Subscription Bundle
With Apple One, customers can enjoy Apple’s subscription services, including Apple Music, Apple TV+, Apple Arcade, iCloud, and more, through one simple plan.

Apple One is a subscription service that bundles Apple’s existing premium services together, letting you pay a monthly fee to get several services at once. It’s somewhat similar to Google One and Amazon’s Prime set of services. With Apple One, you can gain access to the best in entertainment, news, fitness, and cloud storage, including:

  • Apple Music
  • Apple TV+
  • Apple Arcade
  • Apple News+
  • Apple Fitness+
  • iCloud

You don’t have to subscribe to Apple One to access to services mentioned above — if the only one you’re interested in is, say, Apple News Plus, you can just keep paying the $9.99 a month as usual for that alone.

The Apple One has three pricing tiers:

  1. Individual
  2. Family
  3. Premier

The Individual and Family plans give subscribers access to Apple TV+, Apple Music, Apple Arcade, and iCloud storage. The difference between those two tiers is in the amount of iCloud storage – with the individual plan coming in at 50GB and the Family plan having 200GB. Whereas, the Premier plan offers 2TB of iCloud storage and access to Apple News+ and Apple Fitness+.

What Are The Premium Services Included in Apple One?

Here’s what you get with each service available in the Apple One bundle, and how much they cost individually in the US. With Apple One, customers gain access to entertainment, news, fitness, and cloud storage, including:

How Does Apple One Works?

Apple One works similarly to other bundle subscriptions like Amazon Prime and Google One. Users will be charged once a month for the entire package they’re subscribed to and can access the services or apps on any device that supports them.

Customers will be able to change their subscription whenever they want if they ever decide to upgrade or downgrade to another tier.

Little else is known at this time, including how to sign up for Apple One and get started. We will bring you those details as soon as we have them.

One other thing to consider when deciding on which plan to use: the Family and Premier plans allow users to add up to six other people to their subscription. The Individual plan doesn’t allow any, although you could just share a single username.

How Much Apple One Cost? Plans & Pricing

Apple One will definitely save you some money on your suite of Apple Subscription services, but just how much it saves you depends on the plan.

The Individual plan at $14.95 per month will save subscribers about $6 over individually subscribing to all the services. The Family plan at $19.95 per month will save subscribers about $8 in the end. The real value option though is in the Premier plan, which costs more at $29.95 a month but works out to more than $25 of savings.

Apple Fitness+ - Apple One Premier Plan
Apple Fitness+ is the first fitness experience built for Apple Watch and will be available later this year.

The Premier plan is the only plan that offers access to Apple Fitness+, which is Apple’s new fitness-based video lesson service. It provides workouts that can be watched on an iPhone, iPad, or ‌Apple TV‌, with fitness-related data collected by the Apple Watch.

For an extra bit of savings, customers who pay with an Apple Card will get an additional 3% cashback.

There are three Apple One tiers, which include the following services:

Once subscribed, customers can enjoy the premium services included with Apple One on any platform where the services are available. Customers can also add additional ‌iCloud‌ storage if necessary according to the fine print on the Apple One website.

Apple One Availability: When Will Apple One Be Available?

As far as availability is concerned, Apple has not given a specific date for when you’ll be able to get Apple One other than that it will be available this autumn.

Apple One Individual and Family plan will launch in over 100 countries and regions. Whereas, the Premier plan will only be available in the US, UK, Australia, and Canada at launch.

Apple will also offer one-month free trials for services that customers haven’t already tried. The Apple Fitness+ will be launching later this year.

Will Subscribing To Apple One Save Me Any Money?

Saving money depends on how many of the services mentioned above you would want to subscribe to (or already subscribe to). If you purchase all of them individually, you will end up paying at least $40 a month, so even the Apple One Premier plan would be worth it.

According to the company, the Apple One Individual plan offers a savings of over $6 per month. In comparison, the Family plan offers a savings of over $8 per month, and the Premier subscription offers a savings of over $25 per month, or up to $300 a year.

The service that may interest people the most is the least flashy: the iCloud photo and backup service as it’s already a popular service that is required for anyone who stores images, photos, videos, or music downloads. If you’re already paying $9.99 a month for 2TB of iCloud storage, and also subscribe to, say, Apple TV+, the Premier plan may be worth it to get you both of those and all of the rest.

How To Get Apple One Service For Free?

You can quickly get a free subscription to Apple One service as Apple One includes a 30-day free trial for services that customers do not already have.

With Apple One, customers will receive a single invoice each month, and they can easily change or cancel their Apple One plan at any time they want. With the Family and Premier plans, up to six family members can access all the included services with their accounts and preferences.

So, will you subscribe to Apple One – Apple’s discounted bundle?
