Nothing Phone (1)’s Android 13 release has been making headlines for a couple of weeks since the company’s founder started teasing it on Twitter. Yesterday, the Nothing founder announced the Android 13 open and closed beta details for the Phone (1) on his Twitter account. Per the tweet, the closed beta testing is now open, with the company aiming to roll out the public beta in the next two weeks.
For those unaware, the London-based startup earlier announced that the Phone (1) will see a stable Android 13 release in early 2023. Now that the open beta for the Android 13 is scheduled for rollout by the end of 2022, it looks like the company is on track and could deliver the firmware on the promised timeline, if not before it.

While the announcement says the Android 13 closed beta is now open, it doesn’t reveal the procedure for signing up for the program and whether it’s available for Nothing Phone (1) users or developers. Furthermore, we also don’t know about users from which territories are eligible for enrolling in the Nothing Phone (1) Android 13 close beta. However, we’ll witness a worldwide beta release in the next two weeks, as promised by Carl Pei.
Nothing has been quite aggressive in pushing out firmware upgrades since the Phone (1)’s debut. The company has released eight software updates within four months of the Phone (1) debut. Besides this, the Nothing Phone (1) is amongst the first smartphones in its segment to get Jio 5G support in India.
