YouTube Shorts have a vertical video format and TVs are watched in landscape mode. Hence, there is a lot of blank space on either side of Shorts when watched on a TV. Google is tackling this drawback by using the blank space well. There is a redesigned UI with Shorts for playing on a big screen.
