Redmi Note 12 5G launched in China this week as a successor to the Redmi Note 11 from earlier this year. The Redmi Note 12 5G brings a host of upgrades under the hood to make it a step up over its predecessor. There’s support for a 120Hz refresh rate, a GOLED display, and a 48MP primary camera sensor. Redmi Note 12 5G vs Redmi Note 11: price

In China, the Redmi Note 12 5G is priced RMB 1199 (approx Rs 13,600) for the 4GB+128GB model, RMB 1299 (approx Rs 14,800) for the 6GB+128GB variant, RMB 1499 (approx Rs 17,000) for 8GB+128GB, and RMB 1699 (approx Rs 19,300) for 8GB+256GB variant. There is no word yet on the Redmi Note 12 5G India launch date, but we speculate the phone will arrive by March 2023.

Meanwhile, the Redmi Note 11 is available in India with a starting price of Rs 13,499 for the 4GB+64GB model. The 6GB+64GB and 6GB+128GB variants are priced Rs 14,499 and Rs 15,999, respectively.

Display

The Redmi Note 12 5G sports a 6.67-inch FHD+ GOLED display with 1080×2400 pixels, up to 120Hz refresh rate, 240Hz touch sampling rate, 1200nits peak brightness, and a punch-hole cutout for the selfie shooter.

On the other hand, the Redmi Note 11 4G comes with a 6.43-inch FHD+ display with 1080×2400 pixels AMOLED display with 90Hz refresh rate, DCI-P3 colour gamut, and up to 1000 nits peak brightness.

Processor

The Redmi Note 12 5G is powered by the Qualcomm Snapdragon 4 Gen 1 SoC paired with Adreno GPU. The phone comes in 4GB/6GB/8GB LPDDR4X RAM with 128GB/256GB (limited to 8GB model) UFS 2.2 internal storage. It runs on Android 12-based MIUI 13 custom skin out of the box.

The Redmi Note 11, on the other hand, comes with Qualcomm Snapdragon 680 SoC coupled with Adreno 610 GPU, 4GB/6GB LPDDR4x RAM, and 128GB UFS 2.2 expandable internal storage. The phone runs on Android 11-based MIUI 13 custom skin out of the box.

Cameras

The Redmi Note 12 5G comes with dual cameras on the back, with a 48MP primary sensor and a 2MP depth sensor with f/2.4 aperture. There is an 8MP snapper on the front for selfies and video chats.

The Redmi Note 11 has a quad camera layout on the back, with a 50MP primary sensor, an 8MP ultra-wide-angle lens, a 2MP depth, and a 2MP macro unit. There is a 13MP snapper on the front for selfies and video chats.

Battery

Both the Redmi Note 12 5G and Redmi Note 11 feature a 5,000mAh battery with 33W fast charging.

Connectivity and others

The Redmi Note 12 5G comes with 5G SA/NSA, dual 4G VoLTE, Wi-Fi 6 802.11, Bluetooth 5.1, GPS + GLONASS, and USB Type-C. The phone comes with a side-mounted fingerprint sensor for security, an IP53 rating for splash resistance, and an infrared sensor.
