Redmi Note 12 series recently broke cover in China. The series includes a Redmi Note 12 5G, Redmi Note 12 Pro, Redmi Note 12 Pro+, and Redmi Note 12 Explorer Edition. It launched as an upgrade to the previous generation Redmi Note series, the Redmi Note 11 series. The Redmi Note 12 family is currently available only in China and will likely hit Indian shores by March. The Redmi Note 12 Pro comes in four storage options: 6GB RAM/128GB storage, 8GB RAM/128GB storage, 8GB RAM/256GB storage, and 12GB RAM/256GB storage. The base 6GB/128GB unit costs RMB 1,699 (Approx. Rs 19,380), followed by the 8GB/128GB model at RMB 1,799 (Approx. Rs 20,500), the 8GB/256GB variant at RMB 2,099 (Approx. Rs 23,900), and the 12GB/256GB option at RMB 2,099 (Approx. Rs 23,900).

Redmi Note 12 Pro vs Redmi Note 11 Pro: design, display, hardware, and camera
The Redmi Note 12 Pro has a flat design with a boxy look. There’s Redmi branding at the bottom left corner and a squarish camera island featuring a triple camera setup at the top left corner of the back panel. You get a volume rocker and a power button – which doubles up as a fingerprint reader – on the right side.
It has a thin bezel display with a centre-aligned punch-hole cutout at the top for the selfie camera. The handset has dual stereo speakers and a USB Type-C port for charging at the bottom. You can get the Note 12 Pro in Midnight Dark, Time Blue, Mirror Porcelain White, and Shallow Dream Galaxy colour options.
The Redmi Note 11 Pro has a boxy and flat design with a rear glass panel that houses Redmi branding at the bottom left corner and a rectangular camera module at the top left corner. Moving to the front, it has a thin bezel display from three sides and a thick chin at the bottom.
There’s a punch-hole camera cutout that’s home to the selfie camera. It has a side-mounted fingerprint scanner. At the bottom, it has a 3.5mm audio jack, a USB C port, and a dual speaker setup. The Redmi Note 11 Pro comes in three colourways: Star Blue, Stealth Black, and Phantom White.
Display
The Redmi Note 12 Pro flaunts a 6.67-inch Full-HD+ display whose AMOLED panel supports a 120Hz refresh rate, 2400×1080 pixel resolution, 20:9 aspect ratio, 240Hz touch sampling rate, up to 900nits brightness, HDR10+, and Dolby Vision.
On the other hand, the Redmi Note 11 Pro has a 6.67-inch Full-HD+ AMOLED panel with a 120Hz refresh rate, 360Hz touch sampling rate, up to 1200 nits of peak brightness, DCI-P3 colour gamut coverage, and Corning Gorilla Glass 5 protection.
Hardware
The Redmi Note 12 Pro draws power from the MediaTek Dimensity 1080 SoC, and a 5,000mAh battery with 67W fast charging support keeps the lights on. Xiaomi ships the Note 12 Pro with up to 12GB RAM and 256GB storage. The handset runs on Android 12-based MIUI 13 custom skin out of the box.
It’s worth noting that the Redmi Note 11 Pro is a 4G device that has a MediaTek Helio G96 chipset at the helm. Powering the package is a 5,000mAh battery with 67W fast charging support. Unfortunately, unlike the Redmi Note 12 Pro, we don’t see a 12GB RAM option on the Redmi Note 11 Pro, and the RAM is limited to 8GB. It boots MIUI 13 on top of Android 12 out of the box.
Camera
The Redmi Note 12 Pro has a triple rear camera setup led by a 50MP Sony IMX766 primary sensor with f/1.88 aperture, 6P Lens, and OIS support, alongside an 8MP ultrawide lens and a 2MP macro shooter. A 16MP selfie snapper on the front takes care of selfies and video calling needs.
On the other hand, the Redmi Note 11 Pro has a quad camera setup on the back with a 108MP primary unit. The other three sensors in the design are an 8MP ultrawide lens, a 2MP depth shooter, and a 2MP macro sensor. There’s a 16MP front-facing for selfies and video calling.
