Apple Far Out event will take place tomorrow, where we’ll see the latest iPhone 14 series debut. Leaks about the lineup’s feature, naming scheme, price, and design are frequently making headlines. The latest one shows the old battery percentage indicator will return on the iPhone 14 Pro models. Another leak suggests iPhone 14 and iPhone 14 Plus could have an enhanced A15 chip at the helm.
This won’t be the first time that we’re hearing about the A15 chip powering the non-Pro iPhone 14 models; analyst Ming-Chi Kuo shared details that the A16 chip will only be seen on the Pro models and iPhone 14 and 14 Plus will get a souped-up version of the A15 chip that powers the iPhone 13 Pros. If true, this would be the first time Apple will limit the new chip to the Pro models and ship an old chip on the annual refresh iPhone flagship series. The report didn’t share any additional details about the chip.
Apple iPhone 14 Pro model always-on display, battery status
This year’s Pro models might also get a new display design with a pill cutout instead of the notch. With the extra screen estate, the Pro models might bring back the good-old battery percentage indicator that went missing since iPhone X’s launch. This will be more convenient than scrolling down the control centre or the iOS 16 beta battery percentage indicator housed in the battery bar, which can be hard to read sometimes.
Apart from the battery status details, the MacRumors report also sheds light on iPhone 14 Pro’s always-on-display behaviour on the lock screen. The iPhone 14 Pro duo will show network info, battery details, date, and time on the lock screen, but when the display is in its always-on mode, the foreground will be dimmed, the depth effect will be removed, and widgets will fade in and out.
