Apple has launched two new Pride Edition Bands – Pride Edition Sport Loop and Nike Sport Loop – celebrating Pride month in June. Apple has also introduced Pride thread watch faces supporting the global LGBTQ+ community and equality movement. The Pride Edition Sport Loop embeds the word ‘Pride’ directly on the band. It’ll launch its new Shot on iPhone pride campaign on Instagram that showcases the essence of artists and figures within the global LGBTQ+ community.
Apple has strongly supported the LGBTQ+ community over the past few years. In its seventh year, Apple illustrates its ways to showcase its support for the LGBTQ+ community with Apple Watch Pride Edition bands and watch faces.
Pride Edition Sport Loop, Nike Sport Loop: price, availability
The Price Edition Sport Loop and Nike Sport Loop are priced at Rs 3,900, and they’re available on Apple’s official website and Apple Store app. The bands go on sale in Apple Store starting May 26th. The Nike Sport Loop will soon come to Nike’s official website. The bands are compatible with all Apple Watches.
Pride Edition Sport Loop
The LGBTQ+ creative community at Apple has utilised the comfortable, durable, and adjustable Sport loop design and using a new technique – removed several double-layer nylon-woven textile loops on the band and embedded the word ‘pride’ in a cursive style inspired by the original ‘hello’ greeting — displayed on the first Macintosh in 1984.
The rainbow colours are mixed with those from various pride flags and black and brown colours (Black and Latinx communities) to create a colour gradient. The colours also reflect those living with HIV/AIDS or who have suffered from the virus.
Pride Edition Nike Sport Loop
Along with Nike’s Be True collection, the new Pride Edition Nike Sport Loop embarks on the full spectrum of the rainbow and features a matching rainbow-coloured Nike Bounce face. The Be True is part of Nike’s broader commitment to the LGBTQ+ community, including recognition, advocacy, inspiration, and education.
Pride Threads Watch Face
The Pride Threads Watch Face are available on Apple Watch Series 4 and later that runs on watchOS 8.6 and iPhone 6s and later runs on iOS 15.5. Several pride flags and blends of colours inspire the watch face to express the LGBTQ+ movement’s strength and unity. When the Apple Watch’s Digital Crown is rotated, the display is tapped, or the user’s wrist is moved, the colourful threads move.
