It’s been a year since OnePlus made its relationship with OPPO public, and also the fact both share the same R&D and design teams. We have been seeing similarities between their products now more than ever – the Nord lineup is a prime example of that and even the alleged render of OPPO Reno8, which looks quite a lot like the OnePlus 10 Pro. Now, it seems like both the companies will be sharing one more thing – a foldable smartphone. It might come as a surprise, but OnePlus is working on a foldable that might be very similar to the OPPO Find N.
A recent report from PriceBaba citing Yogesh Brar notes that the OnePlus is working on a foldable smartphone. The report further suggests that it will be identical to the OPPO Find N (review), launched last December. The Find N has not made it out of China yet, so it appears a good decision to sell it out of the mainland under the OnePlus’ brand, which has an estimable reputation in the United States, and Europe compared to OPPO.
OnePlus’ Pete Lau is said to have a big role in developing OPPO Find N. So, it makes more sense for the OnePlus’ foldable to be based on the Find N. But we don’t know if it will be rebadged Find N or OnePlus will take some cues from the Find N and develop its own foldable.
When is the OnePlus foldable smartphone launching?
The report does not give any launch timeline for OnePlus’ alleged foldable phone. But, it might not be on the cards for this year. As seen in a leaked roadmap for OnePlus’, the company is expected to launch six smartphones this year, and none of them is a foldable smartphone. So, we might not get it before 2023, but there is a slight chance that OnePlus could launch it as “one more thing” this year. So, sit tight and wait until we learn more about the OnePlus’ foldable smartphone.
