Reliance Jio revised its prepaid plans in the country earlier this month. While the plans are much costlier than before, they still seem to be a better value for money in comparison with Airtel and Vi. The telco had recently written to TRAI complaining about Vi’s exorbitant plans that come with SMS benefits, which apparently would discourage users to port out to another network. Now, Jio has introduced SMS benefits to its affordable prepaid pack so that customers have the choice to port out, as per TRAI’s directive. Here’s what Rs 119 Jio plan offers.
Jio Rs 119 prepaid plan benefits
Jio’s Rs 119 prepaid plan offers 1.5GB of data per day, unlimited voice calls to any network, 300 SMS, and 14-day validity. The plan brings access to Jio suite of apps, including Jio Cinema, Jio TV, Jio Security, and Jio Cloud. Post the 1.5GB/day allotted data, the speed will come down to 64kbps. With this move, the Rs 119 plan becomes the most affordable pack to offer SMS benefits and 21GB of total data.
This will allow customers to port out to any network of their choice as the plan isn’t putting a dent to their pockets like Airtel or Vi. Airtel’s cheapest plan with SMS benefits costs Rs 128. However, it isn’t an unlimited plan and users will have to pay for voice calling and SMS from the main balance. Vi is still continuing to offer SMS benefits with Rs 179 plan.
This comes at a time when TRAI had directed the telecom networks to allow users to port out to any network by sending an SMS to 1900 even if they are subscribed to prepaid plan, which doesn’t offer any SMS benefits.
