Chinese brand Oukitel has launched the WP17 smartphone, a device designed to take on the toughest challenges without actually biting the dust. But its highlight will be the massive 8,300mAh battery that should easily last 3 days with moderate usage. That’s bigger than the 7,000mAh cell used by Samsung in some of its smartphones, the biggest we have seen on a mainstream phone. As for the rugged design, the Oukitel WP17 looks the part thanks to its sturdy build, with the exterior edges being strengthened by metal and a rubber-like compound. The Oukitel WP17 is rated to sustain drops of up to 1.5m and survive a dunk of up to 1.5m underwater for 30mins.
The Chinese smartphone manufacturer has launched the new rugged phone at a price of $399.99 ( ~ Rs 30,126). However, it will be available for early birds who pre-order the device for just $199.99 (~ Rs 15,062).Oukitel WP17 specifications
The Oukitel WP17 packs a 20:9 6.78-inch Full-HD+ display with 90Hz refresh rate. It runs on an octa-core Helio G95 processor from MediaTek, clocked at 2.05GHz. The CPU is paired to a Mali-G76 GPU, 8GB of RAM, and 128GB of internal storage. The device draws power from a massive 8,300mAh battery that charges at 18W, as we mentioned above. This huge power bank sized battery means the Oukitel WP17 will last days at a stretch.
Oukitel WP17 sports a triple camera setup that consists of a 64MP primary lens, a 20MP IR Night Vision camera, and a 2MP macro sensor. The selfies are managed by a 16MP shooter placed inside a hole-punch cutout. The smartphone features a MIL-STD-810 certification, an imperative when it comes to making durable smartphones. Other than the military-grade durability certification, the Oukitel WP17 is also IP68/IP69K certified, making it dust and waterproof.
Despite the tough build, the Oukitel WP17 packs in a USB Type C port for charging, a fingerprint sensor as well as facial recognition, dual-SIM support, and 4G connectivity. The device is available in Black colour.
