Apple iPhone 14 getting design overhaul, punch-hole display instead of notch: report

Highlights
  • Apple iPhone 14 will get a complete design overhaul.
  • iPhone 14 Pro models are likely to come with a punch-hole display instead of a notch.
  • iPhone 14 lineup to be devoid of the ‘mini’ model, will get iPhone 14 Max instead.

The iPhone 14 leaks have been gaining momentum soon after the iPhone 13 series launch. Just a few days prior to the iPhone 13 announcement, tipster Jon Prosser revealed iPhone 14 concept renders that suggested a major redesign in the offing. Last week, analyst Ming-Chi Kuo reaffirmed that the iPhone 14 Pro and 14 Pro Max will get a punch-hole display. Now, Bloomberg’s Mark Gurman also claims in his Power On newsletter the iPhone 14 series will come with a complete design overhaul. The iPhone 13 brought about minor updates and Gurman says that this is because the Apple engineers are working on something bigger in the background.

iPhone 14 to get a design overhaul

The iPhone 13 lineup has come on the market very recently, but the iPhone 14 leaks and rumours already and multiple sources have taken a plunge into the same. Earlier we had covered Ming-Chi Kuo’s predictions of the iPhone 14 Pro models dropping the notch and replacing it with a punch-hole design. Kuo’s research note, in this case, fell perfectly in line with FrontPageTech’s Jon Prosser, who gave us our first look at the iPhone 14 design.

Now, Bloomberg’s Mark Gurman reported that the iPhone 14 series will indeed receive a complete design overhaul and this is why the iPhone 13 series was a minor upgrade in design. The Apple engineers are busy working on the 2022 iPhone 14 series. The iPhone 14 model lineup has also seen a revision as the 2022 lineup will drop the mini iPhone and will instead consist of the iPhone 14, iPhone 14 Max, iPhone 14 Pro, and iPhone 14 Pro Max.

The iPhone 13 lineup has finally gone on sale and brings about a host of new changes. The iPhone 13 and iPhone 13 mini benefit from the iPhone 12 Pro Max’s sensor-shift technology on its new larger sensors, a bigger battery, a smaller notch design, the new A15 Bionic chipset as well as some fresh colour choices, and more. The iPhone 13 Pro and iPhone 13 Pro Max follow suit with a bigger battery, smaller notch size, improved cameras, new colourways, and more. 91mobiles has also got its hands on the iPhone 13 and iPhone 13 Pro and will soon be rolling out in-depth reviews.

The iPhone 13 mini (128GB) starts from Rs 69,900, the iPhone 13 (128GB) starts from Rs 79,900, the iPhone 13 Pro (128GB) starts from Rs 1,19,900 and the iPhone 13 Pro Max (128GB) starts from Rs 1,29,900.
