Xiaomi 12 (formerly, Mi 12) is known to be in the works for some time and is expected to launch later this year, probably after the latest Qualcomm chipset is unveiled. Quite a few rumours have revealed a good deal about the flagship. Now, the latest leak, courtesy of Digital Chat Station, has spilt the beans on the camera details of the Xiaomi 12. It appears that the company will be ditching the 108MP sensor that was seen on the Mi 11 and MIX 4 recently. The Xiaomi 12 is said to use a 50MP triple camera setup on the back. This means the phone will have a 50MP primary sensor, accompanied by a 50MP ultra-wide-angle lens and a 50MP telephoto camera. The latter is said to have a 5x periscope zoom functionality. However, Xiaomi is said to be working on 10x periscope as well.
Though past rumours have claimed the Xiaomi 12 will have a 200MP Samsung’s upcoming sensor but we can speculate it may have been reserved for Xiaomi 12 Ultra. As it currently stands, the Xiaomi 12 is still in the design verification stage, according to the leakster. This means the final hardware details may vary. That’s pretty much it about the Xiaomi 12 camera details, for now, but we should hear more details in the next few weeks.
Xiaomi 12 specifications (rumoured)
Xiaomi 12 is said to sport an LTPO AMOLED display with an adaptive refresh rate (1Hz to 120Hz). It is speculated to be powered by the Qualcomm Snapdragon 898 SoC, which will come as a successor to the Snapdragon 888 chipset that powered the Mi 11. The Xiaomi 12 is tipped to pack LPDDR5X RAM that was unveiled recently and is said to offer a maximum data rate from 6,400 Mbps to 8,533 Mbps, double of what the LPDDR4X RAM. The phone is likely to boot Android 12 out of the box and connectivity options include 5G, 4G LTE, Wi-Fi 6, Bluetooth 5.2, GPS and USB Type-C port.
