Mark Zuckerberg has finally confirmed the WhatsApp iPad app ahead of multi-device support. The feature has been under testing for a while now and has finally evolved into the final stages and will be rolled out soon. This comes after many years of anticipation and two years since the first trustworthy rumour had crept up. WABetaInfo in an interview with Mark Zuckerberg and Will Cathcart has dissected many important topics, multi-device support is one of them. Mark has confirmed that true multi-device support is in the works and that a native WhatsApp iPad app will be released soon.
WhatsApp for iPad confirmed
WhatsApp’s current structure of functioning allows you to use the platform across multiple devices via one account provided that your main device has an active internet connection. This feature, although useful, doesn’t extend maximum usability that can be achieved with the availability of true multi-device support. Mark Zuckerberg, CEO of Facebook and Will Cathcart, CEO of WhatsApp in an interview with WABetaInfo had confirmed just that. Mark has assured us that they have been working on a WhatsApp iPad ap and it looks like the development is finally on its last lap. In a tweet, WABetaInfo has shared screenshots of an iPad being used as a secondary device to the same WhatsApp account. They also share that this feature will be eventually extended onto Android tablets as well.
The current situation with the multi-device support on WhatsApp allows you to use the messaging app via WhatsApp Web and applications on your desktop and requires you to have an active internet connection on your main device. This essentially is a mirroring feature. True multidevice support will extend the ability to use a specific WhatsApp account on various devices without the need to have the main device connected to the internet. Rumours have it that WhatsApp multi-device support will allow up to four devices and one smartphone to run on a single account.
