Redmi Note 10 Lite India launch tipped, will likely be a rebadged Redmi Note 9 Pro

Highlights
  • Redmi Note 10 Lite has been tipped to launch in India.
  • It is expected to be a rebranded Note 9 Pro from last year.
  • The device is codenamed Curtana carrying model number 2109106A1I.

Xiaomi is planning to extend the Redmi Note 10 series with the addition of a new Redmi Note 10 Lite smartphone. According to fresh rumours, the Note 10 Lite will be a rebranded Redmi Note 9 Pro. The Redmi Note 10 series in India consists of Redmi Note 10, Note 10S, Note 10 Pro, Note 10T 5G, and the Note 10 Pro Max. The Redmi Note 10 series is one of the bestsellers in Xiaomi India’s current portfolio and is arguably more popular than last year’s Note 9 series. Leaks now suggest that Xiaomi is willing to expand the Note 10 lineup further with the proposed Redmi Note 10 Lite.

Redmi Note 10 Lite could be a rebranded Note 9 Pro

Tipster Kacper Skrzypek posted images of lists that contained model numbers of devices including the speculated Note 10 Lite. The model number in the spotlight here is 2109106A1I. We can also see in the second image that shows that Redmi the Note 10 Lite will be carrying the codename “Curtana”. The Note 9 Pro in India and Note 9S in other markets carried the codename Curtana. This makes us believe that the new Redmi Note 10 Lite will be nothing but a rebranded Note 9 Pro. Slight differences in the design and hardware are expected to bring the one-year-old device up to 2021 market standards.

Redmi Note 10 Lite expected specifications

If the speculations of the Redmi Note 10 Lite being a relaunched Note 9 Pro is true then we should take a look at what it offers. The Redmi Note 9 Pro (Note 9S in other markets) ships with a Snapdragon 720G chipset. The 8nm SoC is clocked at up to 2.3GHz. It features a 6.67″ FHD+ DotDisplay (2400 x 1080) with Corning Gorilla Glass 5 Protection. The device houses a quad-camera set up which includes a 48MP main camera, 8MP ultra-wide, 5MP macro and a 2MP depth sensor. The front camera duties are tackled by a 16MP shooter. The Redmi Note 9 Pro was offered with 6GB RAM and up to 128GB of onboard storage. It draws power from a 5,020mAh battery and charges at 18W.

The Redmi Note 9 Pro carried a sticker launch price of Rs 12,999 at launch. We expect the new rumoured Redmi Note 10 Lite to be priced similarly.
