Motorola Edge 2021 launched with Snapdragon 778G SoC, 144Hz display, and more: price, specifications

Motorola has added a new Edge model to the already lengthy list of Edge 20 devices on sale; this new model has been launched in North America only though. The new model is named simply named Motorola Edge, unlike the Edge 20 lineup which bears monikers like Edge 20, Edge 20 Pro, Edge 20 Lite, and Edge 20 Fusion. The new Motorola Edge 2021 will act as a successor to last year’s Edge. In terms of features, it is clearly the Edge 20 Fusion that launched in India recently, but with the Snapdragon 778G chipset keeping the lights running, a higher display refresh rate, and a few other changes.

Motorola Edge 2021 price

The Motorola Edge 2021 price in the US is $500 (about Rs 37,000) thanks to an introductory discount offer. Once the offer expires, you will have to shell out $700 (roughly Rs 52,000) for the phone. For now, the phone will be limited to the US only, though it is confirmed to arrive in Canada later this year.

Motorola Edge 2021 specifications

Motorola Edge will be a mid-ranger and will offer hardware along the same track. The device will be using the Snapdragon 778G chipset from the house of Qualcomm. The 6nm chipset is 5G capable and is a popular choice in the segment. CPU speeds on the chipset clock up to 2.4GHz and an Adreno 642L takes care of the GPU duties. The SoC also boasts of the latest Wi-Fi 6E, Bluetooth 5.2, and NFC. The Snapdragon 778G SoC will be paired to 8GB of RAM and 256GB of onboard storage.

On the display front, the Motorola Edge 2021 features a 6.7-inch LCD display with 144Hz refresh rate. The panel features 1080 x 2460 pixels resolution and supports 576Hz touch latency. The device is IP52 certified making it water repellant. The Moto Edge houses a 5,000mAh battery rated to fast charge at 30W and comes with a side-mounted fingerprint sensor. The Moto Edge with 169 x 75.6 x 8.99 mm and tips the scale at a decent 200grams. The triple camera setup at the back accommodates a 108MP primary camera, an 8MP ultra-wide lens, and a 2MP depth sensor. The front camera duties are handled by a 32MP shooter.
