Alleged live images of the Mi MIX 4 frame have been leaked online, with the report claiming the phone’s long-rumoured in-display selfie camera will be located in the middle of the frame. The image, via Chinese publication IT Home, shows the frame of the upcoming flagship sourced from a supplier’s factory. It also claims there will be a total of three in-display sensors: the selfie camera, the fingerprint sensor, and a light. This, of course, won’t be a surprise to anyone considering in-display fingerprint scanners have been a thing for a long time now. It is just the placement of the selfie camera in the middle of the display that is surprising since smartphones usually have the sensor located towards the top.
Interestingly, the IT Home report also mentions the Mi MIX 4 launch date as August 10th. We have heaerd several times that Xiaomi plans to launch MI MIX 4 at some point this month, but there was no concrete date so far. However, the company is hosting a 10th anniversary celebration event on August 11th in China, so that might just be the launch date for the world’s first commercial smartphone with in-display selfie camera.
