Apple iPhone 13 Pro models will reportedly come with a high refresh rate display, as per various reports and rumours. The iPhone 13 Pro and the iPhone 13 Pro Max will come with a 120Hz ProMotion panel that we’ve used to seeing on the iPad Pro. Now, a new report suggests that Samsung could supply the component that enables up to 120Hz refresh rate on iPhone 13 series. The new iPhone series will be announced later this year, and just like every year, we’ve had a barrage of leaks and reports. Most recently, we got our hands on some exclusive iPhone 13 Pro renders that showed a smaller notch.
iPhone 13 Pro display component coming from Samsung
According to a report by TheElec, Samsung Electro-Mechanics could be considered as a supplier for a crucial iPhone 13 Pro display component. The company makes rigid-flexible printed circuit boards or RFPCB, which is what connects the OLED panels to mainboards. This component will be required by Apple to enable up to a 120Hz refresh rate on the iPhone 13 Pro series.
Samsung Display is already a display supplier for Apple, so it would make sensor for the Cupertino giant to source the RFPCB from Samsung Electro-Mechanics. As mentioned in the beginning, only the iPhone 13 Pro and the iPhone 13 Pro Max will feature a high-refresh rate display. The standard iPhone 13 will use a multiplex FPCB, which doesn’t support the ProMotion high-refresh rate feature.
The iPhone 13 series could reportedly use LTPO display technology that will help the new devices consumer less power. High-refresh rate displays usually consume a lot of power, especially at 120Hz. However, with the LTPO technology, Apple may be able to provide an efficient high refresh rate display. The new iPhones will come with better processor, most likely the A15 Bionic, and are rumoured to have a smaller notch, as well as improved cameras.
