Battlegrounds Mobile India launching soon: 8 things we know so far

Highlights
  • Battlegrounds Mobile India launch date could be June 18th.
  • The game will be available on Android and iOS platforms.
  • Battlegrounds Mobile India will be similar to PUBG Mobile but it will have India-specific features.

PUBG Mobile has been reintroduced in the Indian market as Battlegrounds Mobile India. While the battle royale is yet to become available to download in India, Krafton, the game’s developer, has revealed plenty of details through its official website and social media platforms, such as maps, rewards, privacy policy, and more. Battlegrounds Mobile India release date has not been officially revealed, but there have been multiple rumours about the date from credible sources. Let us have a look at 8 things we know about Battlegrounds Mobile India so far.

Battlegrounds Mobile India could launch on July 18th

According to several reports and tips, Battlegrounds Mobile India release date could be June 10th or June 18th. Moreover, Abhijeet Andhare, a popular esports player has recently claimed that Battlegrounds Mobile India could be launched in the third week of June. It means that the game could most probably launch in the Indian market on June 18th.

Battlegrounds Mobile India Android, iOS, and Lite version

Battlegrounds Mobile India pre registration has already kicked off on Google Play Store. So, the game is definitely coming to Android devices. However, Krafton has not said anything about the launch of Battlegrounds Mobile India on iOS devices. Well, a report from IGN India, citing sources in the industry, claims that the game developer is working on releasing Battlegrounds Mobile India for the iOS platform as well. And it only makes sense considering that the new game is just a modified variant of PUBG Mobile which is already available for iOS across the globe.

If you recall, PUBG Mobile Lite was launched in India, which was meant for smartphones with low processing power. Well, that might not be the case with Battlegrounds Mobile India. According to IGN India, Krafton may not release a Lite version of Battlegrounds Mobile India. The reason behind this decision could be that the system requirement for Battlegrounds Mobile India is already on the lower side (phones with RAM as low as 2GB can run the game). So, it doesn’t make sense for the game developer to launch a Lite version.

Battlegrounds Mobile India gameplay will be similar to PUBG Mobile

The description for Battlegrounds Mobile India on Google Play Store reads “Set in a virtual world, Battlegrounds Mobile India is a battle royale game where multiple players employ strategies to fight and be the last man standing on the battlegrounds. A free-to-play, multiplayer experience, in Battlegrounds Mobile India, players can battle it out in diverse game modes which can be squad-based or even one-on-one.” So, Battlegrounds Mobile India is basically similar to PUBG Mobile in terms of gameplay.

BMI pre-registration rewards, PUBG Mobile inventory transfer

Krafton has announced that people who pre-register for Battlegrounds Mobile India will get four exclusive rewards, the Recon Mask, the Recon Outfit, Celebration Expert Title, and 300 AG. Speaking of which, various content creators had suggested that players will be able to carry over their inventory from PUBG Mobile to Battlegrounds Mobile India. However, IGN India, citing industry sources, says that won’t be the case. Players won’t be able to carry over inventory from PUBG Mobile to Battlegrounds Mobile India. So, you will have to build your profile from scratch.

Battlegrounds Mobile India will have Erangel and Sanhok maps like PUBG Mobile

In a recent post on Facebook, Krafton has teased that Battlegrounds Mobile India will have a map named Erangle. To recall, PUBG Mobile had a map dubbed Erangel, which was one of the most popular maps in the game. Although there is a slight difference between the two names (Erangle vs Erangel), it is believed that the two maps are one and the same, especially when you consider that the teaser image for Erangle has a water tank similar to the one in Erangel. So, expect Battlegrounds Mobile India to carry over the most popular map from PUBG Mobile.

In another teaser image of Battlegrounds Mobile India, Krafton has shown the Ban Tai area from PUBG Mobile’s Sanhok map, suggesting that Battlegrounds Mobile India will have the Sanhok map as well. That being said, Krafton could rename the Sanhok map for Battlegrounds Mobile India to avoid similarities with PUBG Mobile and risk getting the game banned in India again.

BMI will have India-specific outfits, no bloodshed

If you have played PUBG Mobile, you might know that you land in the game half-naked. Well, that might not be the case with Battlegrounds Mobile India. According to various reports, Battlegrounds Mobile India will have outfits that will fully cover the body of the character in the game. Krafton might have taken this decision as nudity was one of the major concerns of Indian parents with PUBG Mobile. Expect Battlegrounds Mobile India to be more sanskari (cultured).

Another concern of Indian parents with PUBG Mobile was that there was too much violence in the game including a lot of bloodsheds, which could affect the mental health of their children. Well, taking this into consideration, Battlegrounds Mobile India will not have bloodshed. If you kill someone in the game, you will be able to see a green liquid pouring out of the character’s body instead of red blood.

Battlegrounds Mobile India will have restrictions for players under 18 years

The official website for Battlegrounds Mobile India has listed a privacy policy for the game. It mentions a few restrictions for players under the age of 18 years. The most noteworthy restriction is that players under 18 years will need to get consent from parents to play Battlegrounds Mobile India. To verify parental consent, players will have to enter the mobile number of their parents or guardians.

The second restriction is that minors will not be able to play Battlegrounds Mobile India for more than three hours a day. This could be a huge relief for parents/guardians in India. Moreover, players under the age of 18 years will not be able to spend more than Rs 7,000 on in-app purchases in Battlegrounds Mobile India.

You cannot play Battlegrounds Mobile India with players outside the country

Battlegrounds Mobile India, as its name suggests, is exclusive to the Indian market. It will not be available to download for people outside the country. Therefore, people will not be able to play Battlegrounds Mobile India with players outside the country. However, it is unclear if BMI players can play with PUBG Mobile global players.
