Delhi e pass: How to apply for curfew pass in Delhi during COVID-19 curfew

Delhi curfew pass: Delhi will be under COVID-19 curfew, starting today at 10 am till Monday i.e. 19th April, 5 am. Called the Delhi weekend curfew, there will be stricter curbs in the capital to check the alarming surge in the COVID cases. All the non-essential movement of individuals including that of domestic help shall be prohibited and shopping malls, auditoriums, gyms, spas, bars, and dine-in services at restaurants will remain shut. Only essential services and those going for vaccination, attending marriages and funerals, among others are allowed during Delhi’s weekend curfew, according to an order issued by the Delhi Disaster Management Authority (DDMA). That said, exempted individuals (apart from those allowed on I-Card) will only be allowed to move across Delhi with an e Pass. Before we get down to how to apply for a curfew pass in Delhi, let’s take a look at those who are exempted and require an e pass during the weekend curfew.

While the weekend curfew will end on Monday, 19th April, the night curfew will stay till April 30th. 

Exemptions from weekend curfew in Delhi

  • Movement of persons related to commercial and private establishments
  • Providing essential services such as home delivery
  • Banks, insurance offices, and ATM services
  • Telecommunication, Internet, and other IT-enabled services
  • Petrol pumps, LPG, and CNG stations
  • Cold storage and warehousing services
  • Manufacturing units of essential services
  • Private security services
  • Power generation, transmission, and distribution
  • Those going to get vaccinated
  • Attending marriages and funerals, up to 50 and 20 persons respectively

For people falling under these categories, e-passes are a must. The Delhi e pass shall be issued by the district authorities.

DDMA has also exempted Central/ Delhi government personnel, Doctor, Nursing staff, paramedical, etc. and other hospital services; people coming from and going to airports/ railway station/ ISBTs on the production of the valid ticket; electronic and print media; and pregnant women and patients from the weekend curfew in Delhi. ePass is not mandatory for these individuals.

How to apply for curfew e pass in Delhi online

Here’s how you can apply for curfew pass in Delhi:

  • Visit delhi.gov.in
  • The website only allows you to apply for ePass for night curfew for now. The same link is likely to be updated with ePass for weekend curfew in Delhi later.
  • Select ‘Click here to apply for ePass for night curfew from 10 pm to 5 pm‘ and choose your preferred language, presently only Hindi and English options are available
  • Choose ‘E-pass for travel during night curfew’ in the field ‘What do you need help with?’
  • Fill in details such as contact number, name of the applicant, district, address of engagement, type of service, and the dates for which the epass is required.
  • Submit an ID proof and check the acknowledgment box
  • Hit the ‘Submit’ button after filling in all required details
  • Once you submit your online application for epass, an e-pass Reference Number will be generated, which can be used to check the status of the application.

It’s worth mentioning that you can make multiple applications from a single ‘login’.

How to check Delhi curfew pass status

After the application for e pass has been submitted online, a couple of messages will be sent to the user’s registered mobile number. The first message will be the receipt of the application, which you will get as soon as you hit the Submit button in the application form, while the second message will be sent at the time of approval of the Movement Pass (so keep tracking).
