OnePlus 9 and OnePlus 9 Pro India variants will not get two years of warranty

Highlights
  • OnePlus 9 series will have a two-year warranty in China
  • The flagships will have the usual one-year warranty period in India and the US
  • OnePlus 9 series launch is scheduled for March 23rd

OnePlus 9 and OnePlus 9 Pro are confirmed to ship with Snapdragon 888 SoC, 120Hz LTPO display, Hasselblad cameras, and 65W fast charging. Now, ahead of the launch on March 23rd, OnePlus CEO Pete Lau has announced the OnePlus 9 series will come with a two-year warranty. This is double the usual one-year warranty that the brand offers. OnePlus said that this decision may offend the industry but it believes that flagship phones have a lifecycle of two years and it’s only reasonable to offer complete support throughout the period. However, before you get all excited, the two-year warranty offer will be limited to China only and won’t be applicable in India and the US, as confirmed by a OnePlus North America representative to Android Authority.

OnePlus 9 Two-year warranty

OnePlus continues to provide one year warranty for free to users based on industry-standard, and options for an extended warranty for any users who are interested,” an OnePlus India representative noted. However, the OnePlus 9 series will come with a two-year warranty in Europe as it’s mandatory and required by the law. This means the upcoming flagships will only have the usual one-year warranty in India, despite the brand’s popularity in the premium segment in the country.
