FASTag: Vehicles with no FASTag will have to pay double the tax at the toll plazas. The electronic toll collection chip for national highways has been made mandatory for all in India. This is said to eliminate the long queues and traffic snarls at the toll plaza with fast and easy payments through FASTag. When a car or any other vehicle installed with FASTag crosses a national highway, the toll amount (if, any) is automatically deducted from the linked bank account or prepaid wallet. You don’t have to pay the cash in toll. Read on to find out how to buy FASTag in India, check balance, and recharge FASTag
How to get FASTag
You can buy FASTag across leading banks in India, including SBI, HDFC, ICICI, and more. You can also apply for FASTag via Paytm and Airtel Payments Bank, points of sale locations, and Road Transport Authority offices. The government is also expanding the sale of FASTag through dealers, agents, fuel stations, commercial centres, and more. While FASTags are bank neutral, it’s recommended that customers should get the electronic toll collection chip from the bank where they have their account for hassle-free payment.
