After much deliberation, the judgment is finally out and we can now reveal which handset has been crowned the Best Phone of 2020 in the Indian Gadget Awards (Voice of the Industry). As you might have guessed, this award goes to the best overall smartphone of the year, irrespective of the price. IGA 2020 has brought together 30 of the biggest names from the tech industry in a one-of-its-kind event in India. The event, co-hosted by 91mobiles, Geekyranjit, Trakin Tech, and MySmartPrice, answers one of the burning questions on top of the industry’s mind: Which is the Best Phone of 2020? Well, the votes have been counted and the results are in, and here’s the smartphone that has been adjudged as the Best Phone of 2020.
The winner of the Best Phone of 2020 title is: Apple iPhone 12 Pro Max
Among the four new iPhones that arrived in 2020, the iPhone 12 Pro Max was definitely the finest offering, which is evident from its feature-set and real-life capabilities. The flagship brings with it a large 6.7-inch Super Retina XDR OLED display and is also a treat to hold thanks to Apple’s new exterior design. The Best Phone of 2020 also has the best camera setup of 2020 in the form of a trio of 12MP shooters that are accompanied by a LiDAR scanner. The iPhone 12 Pro Max has an excellent front camera with a dedicated Night Mode. While all the cameras are excellent at clicking pictures, the device’s video capabilities have received a massive boost thanks to Apple’s adoption of the Dolby Vision technology, which significantly increases the amount of detail captured in the highlights and shadows of the footage. All this, combined with the fact that the best chipset in the market – A14 Bionic – powers the new iPhone, makes the iPhone 12 Pro an obvious choice for Best Phone of 2020.
Runner-up for Best Phone of 2020: Apple iPhone 12
The Apple iPhone 12 is a superb option for those who don’t have deep enough pockets for the Pro models. It has a pretty large 6.1-inch Super Retina XDR OLED display and uses the same A14 Bionic chip that goes inside the Pro variants. While you’ll miss out on optical zoom, its rear camera setup includes the same 12MP wide and ultra-wide cameras that are present on the iPhone 12 Pro Max. Having a smaller display also allows the iPhone 12 to be more compact in nature. Its boxy design, its Ceramic Glass back surface, and its overall build quality make it an extremely comfortable phone to carry around.
Just to refresh your memory, here are the rest of the nominees for the Best Phone of 2020:
