10 Samsung smartphones launching in 2021, according to the rumour mill

The Samsung smartphone business has bounced back this year with a total of 80.4 million shipments in the last quarter, witnessing a growth of 48 percent QoQ and 3 percent YoY. This is said to the company’s highest-ever shipments in the last three years, according to data from Counterpoint. The South Korean giant is expected to shift its gears and launch more affordable 5G phones in 2021 and should also expand its A and M series of phones that are widely popular in the budget segment. Of course, the Samsung Galaxy S21 series launch will kick off 2021 for the company, followed by other phones. In this article, we bring you the list of Samsung smartphones that will be launching in 2021, based on the rumours and leaks on the web.

Samsung Galaxy S21 series

Samsung Galaxy S21 series is expected to be the company’s flagship offering and is widely believed to launch on January 14th, which is ahead of the usual timeline. The lineup is said to comprise of three models: the standard Galaxy S21, Galaxy S21 Plus, and Galaxy S21 Ultra. Thanks to various leaks, we already know a good deal about the flagships, including the design which doesn’t seem to have changed much from the Galaxy S20 series. All the three models are said to flaunt a punch-hole touting display that should be a dynamic AMOLED panel, rectangular camera module and multiple colour options.

According to the leaked renders, the vanilla Samsung Galaxy S21 will have a flat display with a punch-hole cutout on the front and triple rear cameras in the rectangular module. The phone will be available in Gold, Purple, White, and Black colour options. Recent reports have suggested the phone will come with a 6.2 FHD+ AMOLED display with 120Hz refresh rate, 4,000mAh battery and up to 25W fast-charging support. While the international variant is said to come with Snapdragon 888 5G, the India model is reported to arrive with Exynos 2100 SoC that is scheduled to launch in January. 91mobiles exclusively revealed the Samsung Galaxy S21 series prices will start at EUR 849 (approx about Rs 76,000) for the 128GB variant of the base model.

The Samsung Galaxy S21 Plus will adopt a similar design as the Galaxy S21 but will have a larger 4,800mAh battery and slightly bigger display at 6.7-inches. This too will retain a flat display panel and have triple cameras at the back with a 64MP sensor that is probably aided by a couple of 12MP lenses. It will be available in Purple, White, and Black colourways. The Samsung Galaxy S21 is expected to be priced at EUR 1049 (around roughly Rs 94,500) for the 128GB variant and EUR 1,099 (roughly Rs 99,000) for the 256GB model.

Lastly, the mighty Samsung Galaxy S21 Ultra will have a curved display instead of a flat-screen and an additional camera sensor at the back, rounding off with a quad-setup. Leaks suggest there will be a 10MP 10x super-telephoto zoom lens, 108MP main sensor, a 12MP ultrawide lens, and a 10MP 3x telephoto camera. It is expected to pack a 5,000mAh battery and a similar punch-hole cutout for the selfie camera. The flagship is said to cost EUR 1,399 (roughly Rs 126,000) for the 128GB storage variant.

Samsung Galaxy A72

Samsung Galaxy A72 5G is also said to be in the works as the successor to the Galaxy A71 from earlier this year. The launch is expected to happen sometime in the first half of 2021 and the recently leaked renders and camera details have revealed quite a bit about the phone. The phone is said to retain a similar design as the Galaxy A71 with a centre-positioned punch-hole cutout for the selfie camera, a rectangular camera module at the back, and black colour option. While the hardware specifications are under wraps, it is expected to ship with Qualcomm Snapdragon 7xx series chipset, boot Android 11 OS with One UI custom skin, and have an AMOLED display.

The Samsung Galaxy A72 5G is said to have 64MP primary camera paired with a 12MP ultra-wide-angle lens, a 5MP macro sensor, and a 5MP depth unit. Reports suggest the Samsung Galaxy A72 4G price will be between €450 (approx Rs 40,500-€500 (around 45,000), while the 5G variant is said to cost between €550 (approx Rs 49,500) and €600 (around Rs 54,000).

Samsung Galaxy A52 will replace the Galaxy A51 in the company’s 2021 lineup. The mid-range offering from Samsung is rumoured to be available in 5G as well as 4G LTE models. The 4G variant was recently spotted on Geekbench with Snapdragon 720G SoC, 8GB RAM and Android 11 OS. Design-wise, both the 4G and 5G models are expected to be similar, with a hole-punch cutout at the centre for the selfie camera and a rectangular rear camera module to house four camera sensors. The power button and volume rocker are on the right side. The USB Type-C port, speaker grille, and 3.5mm audio jack is at the bottom.

Samsung Galaxy A52 5G is expected to sport a 6.5-inch AMOLED display and be powered by the latest Snapdragon 750G SoC paired with 6GB RAM. It could have an in-display fingerprint sensor for security. It is tipped to measure 159.9 x 75.1 x 8.4mm (around 10mm with the rear camera bump). Rumour has it the Samsung Galaxy A52 5G price will be around $499 (around Rs 36,700) and is expected to launch in the first half of 2021.

Samsung Galaxy A32

Like with the Samsung Galaxy A52, there will be both 4G and 5G models of the Samsung Galaxy A32. The handset is expected to be one of the cheapest 5G phones from the brand in 2021. The Samsung Galaxy A32 is said to have a waterdrop notch for the selfie camera, a side-mounted fingerprint sensor and a rectangular camera module at the back with four sensors. 91mobiles had exclusively shared the images of the rear-panel that showed off the internal design of the phone.

The Samsung Galaxy A32 5G is said to be powered by the MediaTek Dimensity 720 SoC, run on Android 11 OS out of the box and be available in at least a White colour option. The FCC listing suggests it’ll have 15W fast-charging support. The Samsung Galaxy A32 5G is said to be priced around EUR 299 (around Rs 26,900), but the pricing of the Indian variant is unknown at the moment.

Samsung Galaxy A22

Samsung Galaxy A22 is said to be the cheapest 5G offering in 2021 and is expected to launch in the second half of 2021. The handset will reportedly be priced around KRW 200,000 (approx Rs 13,400), which is cheaper than the Galaxy A32. Unfortunately, not much else is known about the Galaxy A22 at the moment but we should come across more information soon.

Samsung Galaxy F62/ Galaxy E62

Samsung Galaxy F62 is rumoured to the second phone in the new Galaxy F series, which was kicked off with the launch of Galaxy F41. The handset’s production has already begun at the company’s Greater Noida facility. However, 91mobiles recently revealed the live images of the phone’s back panel, where one of the images has the phone’s model number (E625F) etched on the back. Sources have informed us the phone will be called the Samsung Galaxy E62 and not the Galaxy F62. This is a good indication the Samsung Galaxy E-series could be making a comeback.

The Samsung Galaxy F62/E62 is expected to come with the Exynos 9825 SoC paired with 6GB RAM. It is likely to boot Android 11 OS out of the box and has 4G LTE, dual-band Wi-Fi, Bluetooth 5.1, and GPS connectivity options.

Samsung Galaxy M12

Samsung Galaxy M12 is yet another budget offering from the brand and may launch sometime next year. The handset is said to sport a 6.5-inch Infinity-V display on the front with reasonable bezels. The Galaxy M12 renders show the rear panel has a textured upper portion, while the bottom part has a glossy finish. It is said to pack a square-camera module that houses four camera sensors. The 3.5mm audio jack, USB Type-C port and a speaker grille at the bottom. Samsung Galaxy M12 specifications could include Exynos 850 SoC, 3GB RAM, and Android 11 OS. It is said to have a side-mounted fingerprint sensor for security and come in at least black colour option.

Besides smartphones, Samsung seems to be working on a tablet (phablet?), dubbed as the Galaxy Tab M62. 91mobiles revealed that the production of the device had begun already in India at the company’s Greater Noida facility. It will be the first tablet in the company’s Galaxy M series and is expected to be affordable. However, details about the Samsung Galaxy Tab M62 are scarce at the moment.

Samsung Galaxy A02

Samsung Galaxy A02 should be the affordable offering from the South Korean giant. There seem to be MediaTek and Qualcomm variants of the phone, probably for different markets. The former had recently spotted on Geekbench with 2GB RAM, Android 10 OS, and MediaTek MT6739WW quad-core processor, the latter is said to arrive with Qualcomm Snapdragon 450 SoC. Earlier reports suggest it could come with a 5,000mAh battery, single-band Wi-Fi, 5.71-inch Infinity V display, and 4G LTE connectivity.

Others Samsung smartphones in development

Besides the phones mentioned above, Samsung is silently working on a range of foldable phones, including the successor to the Galaxy Z Fold 2. Recent reports have claimed the brand may launch affordable foldable phones in 2021 with an aim to expand the market share in the new category. Though speculations are rife that Samsung is killing the Note series officially, a recent report suggests it is silently working on a new Note series (Galaxy Note 21?). Lastly, there is the Samsung Galaxy M02s, which is expected to be a rebrand of the Galaxy A02s, as suggested by the Google supported devices list.
