Despite the COVID-19 pandemic that put a pause to smartphone launches for a good part of the year, Xiaomi managed to release tons of phones in India in 2020. In addition to launching more Mi-branded phones than ever before, Xiaomi also further expanded its portfolio of Redmi smartphones. This year was all about the Redmi 9-series of smartphones and the brand launched as many as eight devices in the series. The list includes the Redmi Note 9 Pro Max, Redmi Note 9, Redmi 9 Prime, Redmi 9A, and most recently, the Redmi 9 Power

These Redmi 9-series phones are priced between Rs 6,999 to Rs 19,999, which means there’s plenty to choose from in the entry-level and mid-range segments. We decided to break down what each of these Redmi 9-series phones offers to help you decide which one to buy.

Redmi Note 9 Pro Max: price starts from Rs 16,999

Redmi Note 9 Pro Max is the most expensive and most powerful smartphone in the Redmi 9 series. Released back in March, the Redmi Note 9 Pro Max sports a 6.67-inch FHD+ DotDisplay with Gorilla Glass 5 protection. The handset is powered by the Qualcomm Snapdragon 720G chipset paired with up to 8GB RAM and 128GB internal storage. The device comes in Glacier White, Interstellar Black, and Aurora Blue colour options. It comes equipped with 64MP AI quad cameras at the back and a 32MP front-facing camera. The handset packs a 5,020mAh battery and supports 33W fast charging.

Redmi Note 9 Pro: price starts from Rs 12,999

Redmi Note 9 Pro launched alongside the Max model earlier this year and offers a lot of the same features at a lower price point. Like the Redmi Note 9 Pro Max, the vanilla Note 9 Pro is also powered by the Qualcomm Snapdragon 720G chipset. This is paired with up to 6GB RAM and 128GB internal storage. The Redmi Note 9 Pro also sports a 6.67-inch FHD+ DotDisplay and packs a 5,020mAh battery. However, it supports a slower 18W charging compared to the Max variant. Cameras on the standard Redmi Note 9 Pro are also different as you get a 48MP primary sensor, which is accompanied by an 8MP wide-angle lens, a 5MP macro lens, and a 2MP depth sensor. The phone gets a 16MP front-facing camera.

Redmi Note 9: price starts from Rs 11,999

Just below the Redmi Note 9 Pro is the Redmi Note 9, which features a 6.53-inch FHD+ DotDisplay and Gorilla Glass 5 protection. Powering the device is the MediaTek Helio G80 chipset coupled with 4GB RAM and up to 128GB inbuilt storage. The handset supports a triple card slot and a rear-mounted fingerprint sensor. Redmi 9 Prime features a quad-camera system that includes a 13MP primary camera, an 8MP wide-angle lens, a 5MP macro lens, and a 2MP depth sensor.
