The OPPO F17 Pro launched earlier this month is now available for purchase in Nepal. It comes in a single 8GB/128GB memory configuration and is priced at NPR 43,990. It’s the update to the F series and comes as the successor of the OPPO F15 Pro. As expected, the USP of this phone is a sleek design & a lightweight build.
The company has also recently launched some budget phones like OPPO A12 and OPPO A53 in Nepal.

In terms of design, the OPPO F17 Pro is just 7.5mm thick and weighs only 164 grams. It has a plastic back with a matte finish. And, the rear camera module looks like the one from Apple iPhone 11 Pro. Seen for the first time in a smartphone, F17 Pro introduces a thin 220 Degree Edge that the company claims to offer a more comfortable and smoother in-hand feel.
The OPPO F17 Pro boasts a 6.43” Super AMOLED display with 1080p+ resolution (20:9). It has a 60Hz refresh rate, which is nothing to write home about, but the handset is certified to play HD video from Netflix and Amazon Prime Video.
Guarding the display and dual punch-hole cameras is Corning Gorilla Glass 3+. There’s also a fingerprint reader under the display, which the company claims can unlock the phone in 0.3 seconds.
Speaking of performance, the Oppo F17 Pro is equipped with a MediaTek Helio P95 chipset whose GPU has been optimized for low-latency, lag-free rendering along with HDR imagery and sharp textures. The chipset is paired with 8GB LPDDR4x RAM and 128GB of UFS 2.1 onboard storage and runs Color OS 7.2 based on Android 10.
Selfies are shot with a 16MP sensor (1/3”), assisted by a 2MP depth sensor. OPPO placed a big emphasis on AI-powered effects and the extra data from the depth sensor is needed in most of them (as is Helio’s AI-accelerating hardware).
The rear hosts a 48MP primary camera (1/2” sensor, f/1.8 lens), an 8MP ultrawide cam (1/4”, f/2.2), plus two monochromatic 2MP sensors.
The AI algorithms offer some fun portrait modes. They can simulate bokeh with big, bright flares or make the background black and white, leaving only you in color. The selfie cam can do bokeh too and use image stacking to capture good quality photos even in dimly lit bars. AI Super Clear Portrait uses deep learning to restore facial features in pictures that would have otherwise turned out blurry.
On the OPPO F17 Pro, a 5-minute charge gets you 2 hours of YouTube playback or 36 minutes of PUBG gaming. If you’re patient, 30W VOOC Flash Charge 4.0 can fully charge the 4015mAh battery in just 53 minutes.
In the worst-case scenario, if you’re without a battery charger during the day, Super Power Saving Mode optimizes the last 5% of your battery life by turning the display black and white, while running just six predetermined apps.
AirGestures allow you to, say, answer a call, even if you’re chilling in the pool and your hands are wet. You’ll be able to activate this feature from as far as 20 – 50 cm (vertically).
