Over the years, LG Electronics has lost its charm in the smartphone industry. Nevertheless, LG is still manufacturing smartphones to keep up with the growing competition. The Korean conglomerate recently launched a new smartphone, the LG Q31, in its home turf.
The LG Q31 launched for a price of KRW 2,09,000 will be available in a single 3GB RAM/32GB storage option. Notably, the same model has been introduced in the US under a different moniker- LG K31.
LG Q31 Specifications and Features
Taking about the features, the new entry-level LG Q31 carries pretty basic specifications. The smartphone comes with a 5.7-inch U-notch display, a 3,000mAh capacity battery, and 3GB of RAM.
Speaking of design, the phone features a curved edge body with dual camera lenses placed horizontally at the backside. A circular-shaped fingerprint sensor sits below the rear cameras.
From the front, the design appears outdated with thick bezels covering the display. Although you do get a notch style panel, however, the thick black border kills the aesthetics. The volume rockers and power button are placed on the left side, while the right side houses a dedicated Google Assistant key.
It equips a mid-range MediaTek Helio P22 processor that has a clock speed of 2.0 GHz. For rendering graphics, the chipset is coupled with a PowerVR GE8320 GPU. The handset is MIL-STD 810G compliant and has an M3/TR hearing aid rating.
As for the camera configuration, the dual-camera setup offers a 13MP sensor with PDAF and a 5MP sensor with a 120-degree super wide view. For selfies and video calling, you get a 5MP camera that supports Portrait mode. The camera software offers a few features like Gesture Interval Shot, Auto Shot, etc.
The LG Q31 also passed the military standard of the US Department of Defense and has durability. This standard tests low temperature (power on/off), humidity, high temperature (power on/off), vibration, drop, impact, etc., meaning that it has enough durability to perform military operations.
Under the hood sits a decent 3000mAh battery. The phone has support for microSD card; however, LG hasn’t specified the expandable storage capacity.
As for the software, LG Q31 runs Android 10 OS with the proprietary LG UX 9.1 layered on top. The phone includes Wi-Fi 802.11 b/g/n, Wi-Fi Direct, hotspot, Bluetooth v5.0, and micro-USB port in its connectivity suite. The speaker grill and a 3.5 audio jack sit at the bottom alongside the charging port.
LG Electronics’ mobile marketing manager Jae-hyuk Shin said, “It has a full set of essential functions at a competitive price point.”
