Huami, the exclusive partner for Xiaomi’s wearable technology, launched an affordable fitness tracker- Huami Amazfit Band 5. The wearable, which is said to be an upgraded version of the Mi Band 5, comes with a price tag of $45.
Design-wise the fitness tracker appears to be a replica of Xiaomi’s Mi Band 5 with an elongated body encased in a silicone strap. However, the Amazfit offers a few notable features that are worth noticing at this price point. The wearable has built-in Amazon Alexa smart assistant and 5 ATM water resistance.
As the wearable is cited to be based on Mi Smart Band 5’s international variant, the Amazfit Band 5 gets a SpO2 sensor for blood oxygen saturation measurement. Besides blood oxygen reading, the Amazfit Band 5 includes a few other tools that make the tracker worth considering. For instance, it comes with heart rate alerts, stress monitoring, and sleep tracking features. Let’s delve into the features briefly.
Huami Amazfit Band 5 Specifications and Features
The Huami Amazfit Band 5 features an elongated body similar to Xiaomi’s Mi Band 5. The body employs a 1.1-inch AMOLED color panel. The smart band offers 45 different watch faces, which can be accessed via the Zepp app. It also includes 11 sports mode and breathing exercises.
The highlights of the Amazfit Band 5 include its Alexa capability with which you can give voice commands to set timers and check notifications. Huami cites that the Alexa can be activated on the Zepp app. It will be available in the following countries- United States, United Kingdom, Ireland, Canada, Germany, Austria, France, Italy, Spain, Mexico, Brazil, Australia, New Zealand, Japan.
Additionally, BioTracker 2 on the watch can monitor heart rate and provide high heart rate alerts. Huami notes that the Personal Activity Intelligence Assessment System (PAI) will transcribe your heart rate data into a score to help you determine how much activities you need to keep yourself healthy.
With OxygenBeats, the tracker will be able to measure your blood oxygen saturation level. Besides the standard tools, the smart band has a menstrual cycle tracking feature, which can only be found in the expensive Fitbit smartwatches.
While all these features look good (at least on paper), the only caveat on the Amazfit Band 5 is that it doesn’t have built-in GPS, which means you will have to carry your phone to track outdoor activities. But the good part is you can customize your phone notifications that you would prefer watching on that tiny AMOLED screen, and control music, a camera on the tracker itself.
The fitness tracker equips a 125mAh battery, claimed to provide up to 15 days of battery backup.

The Amazfit Band 5 may perhaps not see the light in the Asian countries, given its partner Xiaomi is already prepping to release the Mi Band 5. Besides, the Amazfit Band 5’s updated features would instead make the competition challenging for its sibling.
